Now Mr. Lox and I enjoy walking all kinds of places, having the coolest things around in our backyard, and especially our garage parking. I love gadgets, toys, Ben & Jerry’s Chubby Hubby ice cream, monkeys, and our insane cats. I’m a blonde by birth and a redhead by choice. I’m that girl in the cubicle farm with all the cool toys and the file cabinet covered in magnetic poetry. I still use smiley faces in my emails, whether people like it or not. Mooning with my Honey – Part 1

June 15th, 2011 @ 12:57 pm by Mrs. Lox

Well my loves, recap time is almost upon us. But while I sort through my pictures and make sense of all of this, I thought you might like to know what we did when it was all over.

Our wedding ended at 6:30 on a Sunday evening. We stayed that night at the B&B where it was held. And on Monday, we hurried home to pack and prepare for our Costa Rican honeymoon!

This was a big adventure for both of us. I had not traveled out of the country since I went to St. Lucia in 2005, and Mr. Lox hadn’t ventured outside our borders since his days as an enlisted man. So he was sporting a sparkling new passport and we both had our sense of adventure with us. Which was good, because it needed to get us through two 2.5 hour flights before we would land in San Jose, Costa Rica.

After getting off our plane, we hopped a ride to the rental car place and grabbed our ride… a Toyota Rav4, before setting off on a 3.5ish hour drive to our final destination.

We saw things like this…

What’s that on either side of us? A crazy yet purposefully planted forests of palm trees. See?

After roughly three or so hours of driving (and being passed on the left on a 2 lane highway regardless of signs or laws of traffic), we reached the road which would lead us up to the resort. Now, I didn’t take a video this first day so I’m going to talk you through this. Basically, imagine the absolute worst road you’ve ever driven on. Got it? I’m pretty sure it was worse than that. We were eternally grateful we had gotten there in daylight as we drove up the steep, unpaved, and entirely unmarked road. We were also rather proud of ourselves for handling it so well. But eventually, we knew we’d reached the resort when we saw this:

We had made it. Seven hours of flights after one sleepless night, three hours of driving, and we were in the middle of Central America on the side of a mountain feeling pretty obscure and proud of ourselves.

Now, let me tell you how the power of Weddingbee followed me on my honeymoon. I was ratty, and tired, and really not looking my best. But who cares right? I’m how many miles from home after all? Right. As we sat down in the resort to drink our complimentary welcome cocktail I heard a voice behind me say…

“This might be a weird question, but do you blog for Weddingbee?”

No, I’m not kidding. And yes, she’s reading right now. Even in the middle of Central America, there was Weddingbee. And it was pretty darn cool. Not because I’m so famous. (Ha! I can’t even think about that without giggling.) But because she was pretty awesome and I got to make a new friend. Even in Costa Rica on our honeymoon. She and her husband are a great couple and you’ll be seeing them later on.

For now, on to our room! I mean, how could you not be in paradise with a room like this?

So we have this beautiful villa, Weddingbee, and palm trees. What more could the perfect honeymoon need? Nothing, I say. ;)

Our first day we decided to do not much at all. After all, we’d just finished planning and executing what felt like a huge event. And then there was the traveling and such. So we were worn out. That’s why we spent pretty much the entire day here. But not before breakfast! (Where we met another lovely couple and found out the wife is also another friend of the hive! Let’s just say I thought about you all a lot while we were on our honeymoon. Isn’t that sweet? Anyway, back to the recapping…)

I even have proof!

Wbee readers are everywhere! I remember Mrs. Elephant running into a bee on her HM in Mexico. I coulda sworn I saw Mrs. Trail Mix one day but I wasn’t too sure so I didn’t step up to say Hi. Your resort looks beautiful :)

What a fabulous honeymoon spot!! Wowzers!!

Mr. D’s cousin visited Costa Rica last year for more than a month and the one thing that stood out from her travel stories was the awful roads!! haha ~There are many many places on my travel wish list and Costa Rica is in my top five.

@xtatic1: It didn’t rain the entire time we were there. I mean, we had rain on a couple of the evenings, but there was even a few days in the middle where it didn’t rain at all. The weather was really quite perfect, we thought.

@MlleLilas: I should have said that up front…. doh! Sorry about that. We stayed at Oxyjen Jungle Villas in Uvita (on the pacific coast).
