Mrs. Cotton Candy, Riverside, CA Age and Occupation: 29, Field Coordinator Fiance's Age and Occupation: 34, Process Server Engagement Date: July 5, 2007 Wedding Date: June 2011 Venue: Riverside Art Museum About Me: I’m a girl in love with her best friend planning a small mid-century modern inspired wedding that’s been a long time coming. I love all things design, sewing, flea markets, and a good book. I’ve been known to swoon over a well-designed chair and often find myself craving a new addition to my chair collection regardless of the lack square footage in our home. I’m Mexican American girl who hates all things spicy but loves her rowdy Mexican family and her Latin roots. My wedding muses may not be your typical wedding superstars, but with a lot of DIY, a dash of offbeat style, and lots of love and laughs, Mr. Cotton and I plan to create a day that is unmistakably us.
About Mrs. Cotton Candy

Un-Bear-ably Cute!

June 16th, 2011 @ 4:25 pm by Mrs. Cotton Candy

A while back I shared with you my idea to top our cake with miniature Eames chairs to represent my obsession with chairs and our love of mid-century design. Since Mr CC refused to associate his likeness to something as large as a chair I hit the internet again in hopes of finding a cake topper that represented us as a couple and was a little quirky.

Since the cake topper was such a small element in our wedding I wanted to keep the overall cost low, at under 50 bucks. This meant that my 2nd favorite cake topper, sweet little love birds from Ann Wood, were out of the question.

After some searching we ended up with this one-of-a-kind cake topper from Etsy artist Melabo.

Yes, those are bear heads on the bride’s and groom’s bodies, and yes, I am completely and totally in love with it.

You’re probably wondering what in the heck bears have to do with the Cotton Candies. My first name happens to be Veronica. When spoken by native Spanish speakers, the V can sound like a B, making my name sound like Bear-onica. This tickles Mr. CC to no end, to the point in which he has shortened my name to just Bear.

As for what it’ll actually be topping, we’ve ordered a small 6 inch double stack round cake with a smooth butter cream finish from our baker. Perfectly simple, and exactly what we wanted. For our guests we’ve ordered 8 dozen cupcakes in various flavors including red velvet, pina colada, and lemon poppy seed.

What are you ladies topping your cake with?

Those bears are so cute! I might not be having any topper at all. The jury is still out on that, though.

They are cute, but I swear I thought they were pigs, must be the lighting or something. Its always nice to have something that you can keep forever and really means something to you.

I’m putting a little birdie couple atop our cake with a little nest as well.

On an episode of 4 Weddings I saw a hilarious cake topper that when viewed from the front looked like a normal bride and groom figurine but if you look at it from behind their butts were completely exposed! bahaha it was amazing.

We went with actual people. But as FI puts it, they look like the most relaxed Bride and Groom on a cake ever. Sitting on the edge of the cake about to kiss, no shoes, untied groom’s tie. It’s very ‘us’.

We have a people topper. Our’s have a funny twist.
I have to say, regarding your nickname; one of our daughter’s was dubbed Sarrinabean b/c it rolled off the tongue but has been shortened over time to Bean or Beana (b/c she is part Hispanic) Funnie how nicknames come to be!
