Mrs. Biscuit's Picture
Mrs. Biscuit, Morgantown, WV Age and Occupation: 24, Dental Student Fiance's Age and Occupation: 26, Chemist at a pharmaceutical company Engagement Date: April 2010 Wedding Date: July 2011 Venue: Catholic Church, Lakeview Golf Resort and Spa About Me: I'm an engineer who decided to trek back to my hometown three years ago to become skilled in the arts of drilling and filling. I'm engaged to a pretty awesome guy who tests your assorted benzodiazepines by day and home brews by night. Together we have two fur children, Tsali and Tobias N. Fünkat. I'm a lazy perfectionist and eternal sorority girl who enjoys running, crafting, string cheese, good beer, and bad reality TV. We are planning a Big Fat Italian/Sicilian/Polish wedding filled with DIY details and are expecting 300 +/- 50 guests. Our whimsical summer affair is themed "Alice attends the Mad Hatter Vintage Garden Tea Party in a Ballroom. She Thinks That The Venue is Odd for a Vintage Garden Party, but is Tripping on LSD, so She Doesn't Really Care." Yes, I am the Dickens of themes.
About Mrs. Biscuit

Dear potential guests,

Our RSVP deadline has come and went. So far, we have 158 yeas, about 10-12 nays, and close to 140 that have not responded. I know some of those are nos, but we’re still waiting to hear from about 100 people give or take.

We were very benevolent when we began planning. We decided we would invite everyone, so no one was left out. Because of this, we chose the larger (but not as pretty or sunny) ballroom at our venue. It was a sacrifice I was willing to make so that we could have all of our loved ones (not just the first 250) join us.

It’s like the census, guys. Fill it out, mail it back. The return address is already on there. No extra writing necessary. If I can’t implore you to do so with my words, just consider the following warning:

An Open Letter to Our Wedding Guests : wedding morgantown rsvp Letterp letterp

Love,

Miss Biscuit

Were your RSVPs slow to come in? Do you think we should pursue the other venue since it looks like we’re going to be under 250?

Deadline came and went a month ago. Nothing to do about it :( I hope you get more people sending it in now that you have put it out here.

Oh. My. God. You poor thing, my head will just flat explode if that happens!!!! That SUCKS! Congrats for keeping your cool though - and I say hell YES go for the smaller ballroom you liked - if you have 158 yeses and about 100 potential yeses or nos, then you should still be able to fit in a 250-person ballroom. I think? Math’s not my forte though - but still. If they were so rude as to blow your response deadline by so much, perhaps it serves them right to have to squoosh a little! (kidding!)

I feel your pain. Why is it so hard to respond for some people? Its just YES or NO!

Wow, 140 still out? Ridic, Biscuit wedding guests, ridic. I would say if you can switch to the other venue with few problems and it would make you happier, do it!

Wow, that’s crazy! I know I am bad at sending RSVP’s back on time, but now that I’m waiting for them for my own wedding, I am like “why was I so slow at it?!?!” We have about half of ours back so far, so clocks a tickin’. good luck with yours!

Our invitations were only sent out a week ago, but we’ve had pretty good luck on getting RSVPs so far. I tried to make it as easy on people as possible. I sent STD e-mails/cards six months in advance so they already knew the date well in advance and our Response card envelopes were pre-printed with both the “send to” and “return” addresses on it and had stamps already on them. But we do still have a few weeks left to go for RSVPs so we’ll see!

We still have about 30 to hear back from but they have another couple weeks. But really, when you address the return envelope and put a stamp on it how hard can it be to check yes or no and tell me what entree you would like? And if you can’t come JUST TELL ME, I have a hefty B list that I would like to tap into!

140?! That is an insane amount of people who still haven’t sent them back. I hope you can hound on people and get them to respond back!

We’ve got about 20 RSVP’s still unaccounted for with two weeks until the cards are supposed to be back. I’m getting twitchy because I want to finalize with the caterer and the table/chair rental already!

Cute letter! I can’t imagine waiting on 100 replies! Our wedding only had 100 people so it was a much smaller event! I hope they get back to you soon!!!!!

This close to your date, I’m sure there is no way to change venues - what a bummer that your peeps are not rsvp-ing (how rude)

Wow, that’s crazy! I’m getting there with starting to get frustrated and freak out. Before you make the room change, can you and your family contact any of these people to get their answer? It would suck to get a smaller room and then later get lots of RSVPs or people show up and not have the room for them.

Woah, that is a lot of tardy RSVPs. Frustrated for you! Uhm, what are you supposed to do - bribe them with money to attend a party you’re already paying for them to be there.

Go for the smaller venue! (I would totes use it as an excuse to track ppl down.)

My wedding is in a week, and I still have not received about a third of my 150 invites I sent out.

I have been calling and doing everything to get answers.

Super stressful, I feel your pain!!!

If you can still change venues I say you should go for it. it’s just rude of your guests not to have responded.
