About Mrs. Cinnamon Bun

We all have all sorts of ideas about what we want at our weddings, and reading wedding blogs just fuels all those,  ”I need I mean want that”-s!

Here are a few of the things that didn’t make it to our wedding:

  • This gorgeous rose gold rose ring. I can justify a lot, but not that much.

  • The giant ampersand for decor/photobooth:

  • A boudoir shoot. I thought about it, I had an amazing plan…but because of my amazing plan/vision it would have cost so much in lingerie and accessories, then I started looking into prices and the photography was more than I thought. Plus the fact that I wasn’t sure I’d be entirely comfortable prancing about in my undies for a stranger, and that I’d be worried about sucking my tummy in, it was just best that I didn’t try.
  • Out of town bags. We’re planning on doing an envelope with a, “welcome, thanks for coming, this is what is nearby,” letter, but it probably won’t be much more than that.
  • Felt Butterfly rings. I thought these might be cute for photos with the bridesmaids, but never got around to ordering them. It’s too late now, and I won’t miss them on the day.

I wanted to make this list to round up some old ideas I’ve mentioned on the blog before, but really right now I am focusing on what we do have. We have so much that none of these things will be missed in the slightest.

Which of your grand plans didn’t make it to the day? If you’re married, did you miss the whateveritwas?

It’s hard to scrap ideas that you love, but you’re absolutely right! In the end, you don’t notice that they are missing.

Oh I feel you. We’re at crunch time and there are so many “that costs how much? maybe we don’t need it. at all.”

No giant ampersand? Sad, but I agree, you totally won’t miss these things and neither will your guests when everyone is having fun and enjoying your wedding.

Towards the end of planning I thought about adding one of those signs that point to the reception and the ceremony. I thought about the cost and time and just scrapped it, didn’t miss it at all on the wedding day.

I’m starting to get into that stage now where I’m slooooowly cutting things that aren’t budget friendly/don’t make sense/too time consuming…etc. The recent casualty was the wire-name hanger (the Etsy one) for my wedding dress photo. I convinced myself that a $50 hanger for one photo wasn’t a good investment for us to make after booking the honeymoon on Monday…lol

Bummer about the giant ampersand! I thought that would be soooo fun!

I am right there with you…in the beginning I had a list of all these thing I just HAD TO HAVE! Now that we are 85 days out I find that I just don’t care about a lot of the things that haven’t gotten done yet.

@FutureMrsBPB: That’s one I forgot! I had been thinking about a name hanger, but also talked myself out of the $50 hanger. What makes us think about these things in the first place?

I’m two months out and my must-haves are also dwindling. I can’t believe some of them seemed so important at the time. Plus, you can only have so much detail and personalization before it becomes way too much for everyone to take in anyway. Dedicate more money and more attention to a few really important elements.

With that being said, however, I totally bought those hangers early on. I think they are super cute for my bridesmaids to have. I did all of our names though (instead of “bride”) so I can use it again. I think it would be kinda fun to do my favorite bathrobe on that hanger on the wall or something so I can make a big deal out of the everyday. Nearly everything going into the wedding now I will reuse as decor. That’s how I justify the expense. =)

PS - You can TOTALLY make those rings super easily. Go to the craft store and get some felt. If it’s not thick enough, get a felting needle to attach two pieces together (not as scary as it sounds…no sewing involved…just frantic stabbing). You can easily cut out the butterfly design and attach it with hot glue to a ring from the craft store.

Better yet, have your ladies come over and make their own. It would be a fun activity for all of you. I’m having a little get together to have my ladies make their accessories.
