Twirling the Night Away

June 17th, 2011 @ 5:50 pm by Mrs. Cinnamon Bun

I’ve always been intrigued when I’ve seen posts from other bees talking about finding their wedding day perfume. It wasn’t something I’d ever really thought of, mainly for this reason: most perfumes make me sneeze. I don’t wear any perfume for this reason, and I love it when workplaces have a little “this is a scent-free zone” sign. If I buy a deodorant with a different scent than the one that just ran out of, I spend at least a week wondering what that smell is that keeps following me around, before I realise it is me.

But the idea of finding a wedding scent to help bring back memories of the day really interested me so I bit the bullet one day and spent some time in the perfume section of Murale.

There was sneezing. There was sniffling.

I’m sure the sales associates were wondering what communicable disease I had, so they stayed away. But, and this is a big but (I like big buts…), there were some that didn’t make me sneeze! There was one where the bottle actually came in a book-shaped box, which I almost bought just because of the way it fit in with our wedding theme, but the one that won out was Twirl, by Kate Spade.

It didn’t make me sneeze. I liked the smell. Cinnamon Buns liked the smell. I bought it! I didn’t buy the gorgeous bottle (though how pretty would it look in pre-wedding getting ready shots?) but I did buy a little rollerball tube of it.

I like it so much that I didn’t reserve it just for the wedding. I’ve been wearing it on regular days, and I am amazed at how polished I feel all of a sudden. It makes me feel like an honest-to-goodness lady. I’m glad I have it to wear on the wedding day, but I also don’t want to reserve it just for that and anniversaries. I want to wear it all the time!

Did you have a special perfume just for your wedding day? Or will you stick with an old favourite, so you smell like you?

Yay for purfume! So glad you found one you like! I don’t wear it every day, but on our wedding day, I’ll be rocking some vintage Chanel No. 19 that belonged to my mother.

It’s so hard finding a good perfume. I stumbled upon one in Greece years ago (Babydoll by Yves St Laurent) and I loved it. I quickly snapped up a bottle despite the less-than-awesome name and I’m probably going to call it good for, um, my lifetime. Shopping for scents is too much of a headache, literally, to do ever again.

I won’t be wearing perfume. I have a scent that I like, and wear on special dates with my fiance, but I’d kill my aunt, and my mom would be really uncomfortable, so. No scents! : )

I don’t wear perfume very often, but I think it would be nice to wear something pretty smelling for the wedding! And I think it’s great you wear it now, I often don’t want to use perfume because I don’t want to waste it, and then it never gets worn.

I love wearing a good perfume, it really makes me feel a little more “girlie” :) But, like Miss Pony, I hate to feel like I am “wasting” it so I always think that I will just wear it for special occasions. Then it never gets used. :(
But to answer the question, I do want to find something to wear for the wedding!

I’m just curious as to how one would figure out what would be a good perfume match for a person. Every time I walk into the fragrance department, I feel overwhelmed with all the scents and just walk away haha I would really like to know of a good way of figuring out what scent works best for me. Any ideas?

Well I wanted to get a new sent for myself and the perfect one would be be mademoiselle by Chanel…that has something that instantly relaxes me every time I wear it or some similar effect to that! How I figured that that would be my sent to have (If I get) Is I always like to try on perfumes when I go through a Victoria secret or or any perfume dept at the mall for that matter and wait how the scents compare w/in an hour. Mademoiselle really was a hit for me but could never afford it… I thought if I buy a new perfume it would be that one for my wedding…I dont think now is the right time to own a bottle. I did however purchase a bottle of Roxy on clearance at TJ MAX X… it smells kinda like light blue….but I know that for sure I will own that mademoiselle by Chanel one day….It was meant to be…

I picked a new scent for the wedding and love it! I try not to wear it everyday, save it for special occasions.

I never thought of this before another friend was picking out her wedding scent. She said she wanted something different than her normal scent so that when her husband smelled it he would be taken back to their wedding day. After all, scent is very tied to memories.

After a little searching, I came up with L’eau The One by Dolce and Gabbana. Even the bottle is simple, classy, and beautiful. I love it! Everyone told me to do Chloe or something girly but I love a little mystery in there.

I’d like to get something special for our wedding but I’m kind of sensitive to perfume as well. I’ll have to check this one out!

Oh my gosh I know exactly what you mean! I’ve never really worn perfume because A) none of the women in my family really wear it, and B) most of them make Mr. Fish sneeze. But the other day I stumbled upon “Bombshell Summer” at Victoria’s Secret and loved it, so I brought Mr. Fish to the store and he liked it and it didn’t make him sneeze, and now I’m sitting at work feeling like a LADY because I smell wonderful. How did it take me so long to figure this out?!

Ohh, I’ll have to smell that one! I bought a special perfume for the day but I plan to wear it afterwards. I love the smell too much to keep it only for special occasions!
