Texas Twosome: Foooood!

June 18th, 2011 @ 11:30 am by Mrs. Plaid

It’s food time y’all! We opted to keep our reception simple and laid-back by having a customizable burrito bar provided by Freebirds. Let me tell you, they did an awesome job. It was freakin’ delicious!!!

Not only did they make burritos (huge ones), they also made nachos, quesadillas and salads upon request! And they got our group of 80ish people through their line in about 45 minutes!

This may seem weird but I requested that our photographer take a picture of us eating as proof that we did, as bride and groom, have time to chow down on the food that we served at our wedding.

Is that love in our eyes? Or just a love of Freebirds? ;)

And what goes great with burritos? Toast, or course! I mean, toasts, from our MOH and BM.

My big sis kicked things off with a very sweet, very speedy toast. I have to give her props. She hates talking in front of people and she made it through. She just talked at hyper-speed so I was probably the only one that actually understood her. Oh well.

Then Mr. P’s dad, his BM, gave his speech. It was also sweet and very fatherly. Mr. P is one lucky son.

They did a awesome job and what would have been great was if Mr. P or I stepped up and said a few words thanking everyone for being there, but we’re horrible and we forgot.

I think we were excited for cake. Mmmm cake! Cake’s up next!

OMG I’m so jealous. I LOVE Freebirds. We lived in Austin for 2 years and grew to love Freedbirds. To bad we now live in Massachusetts and we can’t get it. :-( Great catering choice!

That’s so awesome! We love Freebirds! Burrito bowl with the cayenne tortilla, spanish rice, mixed cheese, refried beans, carnitas, pico and tomatoes, lime juice, cilantro, sour cream and LOTS of fresh jalepenos! It’s the best meal ever!

We were all set on bbq and then Freebirds starting catering a few months before the wedding. It was like a freakin’ sign and possibly the best decision we made during the whole planning process. We still hear about how much people loved the burritos at our wedding!

@cr6zy: no hate. It’s exactly like Chipotle, only in my opinion better. It’s a Austin/local place.

Burritos! Awesome! And I love the picture of you two eating. We missed that and I’m still upset.

A burrito bar sounds amazing. With all the love for Freebirds in the comments, it makes me wish there were one in our area!

OH MY GOSH! You had a Freebirds reception! If I tell my fiance, he will probably kill me for making him have a ballroom reception. I think its so awesome you had the food you love at your reception. But we are having chicken parmasen and manicotti, so we technically are having our favorite food. However, Freebirds…. mmmm.. i think I will swing by and get some nachos to go tonight.
