Mrs. Hippo's Picture
Mrs. Hippo, New York City/Dallas, TX Age and Occupation: 34, Event Planner for a Non-Profit Fiance's Age and Occupation: 35, Finance IT Engagement Date: August 8, 2009 Wedding Date: March 2011 Venue: Samuel Lynne Galleries and Marc Events About Me: I’m a thirty-something bride living in New York City and planning a modern-ish wedding in Dallas, Texas. I love trashy reality television (Jersey Shore, anyone?), online shopping, Sunday brunch, Central Park, and random celebrity spottings on the streets of Manhattan. While I love NYC, I miss good Tex-Mex, my college friends, central A/C, and being in close proximity to a Target. I’m thrilled to finally be planning an event that’s not work-related and to be marrying my best friend in what I hope will be a unique and personal ceremony followed by a reception with plenty of good food, good drinks, and dancing (regardless if it’s good or not).
About Mrs. Hippo

We arrived in Dallas the Wednesday before the wedding, and spent that afternoon and much of Thursday running errands and completing last minute projects. After Mama Hippo unveiled her super fantastic wedding pillows, we started assembling the out-of-town bags. Like many a bee before me, we went with gable boxes filled with goodies for our out-of-town guests.

I found these navy blue gable boxes, and then used ribbon and a sticker with our wedding logo to decorate them.

We stuffed the boxes with granola bars, fruit gummies, chewing gum, mixed nuts and our welcome brochure, which included all the details for the wedding weekend. Oh…and bottled water, of course.

After all the errands were taken care of on Thursday, I spent a little solo time at the hotel’s spa. It was awesome to have some quiet time to myself to collect my thoughts and relax while not having to talk to a single person or answer a single wedding-related question. (Unmarried bees…I highly recommend working this into your schedule a day or two before the wedding. You will not regret it!) By the time I was finished pampering myself, most of our out-of-town family members had arrived and were gathered in the lounge area of the hotel lobby. The big draw was the newest family member, my sweet niece.

Adorable!!!

While King Hippo had a guy’s night out that evening, I enjoyed a Hippo family dinner, then hit the sack early in preparation for a full day on Friday.

Up next…the ladies’ lunch!

Your niece is SO cute!

Also, our OOT boxes look almost exactly the same as yours! We did a wide pink ribbon going the other way around the boxes (horizontally), with our monogram/logo. Then, we tied a little bit more of the ribbon around the top (to ensure they woudl stay untampered until our guests got them). Great minds think alike…

Miss Hippo, What size were the boxes you ordered? They look awesome and I would like to do something similar at our OBX wedding. :)
