I'm a lover of history, all seasons, sewing and Incubus. I design costumes on the side for my old high school's theatre department, which is where I met my sexy man. About Mrs. Zebra

Video via YouTube - Song written and performed by Incubus

…and so the day of our wedding had finally arrived. I hopped out of bed at 6 AM to the welcoming glow of a gorgeous sunny day. I did everything I could to contain my excitement and not run screaming naked through the streets of my childhood neighborhood. It was here and boy, was I ready.

The girls and I grabbed some breakfast in the kitchen between conversation before heading off to Allure Salon in Swansea, MA to get our hair done.

First things first however, I had to play a song. Monuments and Melodies had long become our wedding theme song (hit play on the video above please and thank you). The chorus lyrics are so beautiful and each time I heard them I thought of the morning of our wedding (just ignore that part about houses crumbling). When I jumped in my car, I insisted we play it but it kind of fell flat. That’s the problem with daydreaming about moments you want to create in advance, they are, in essence, artificial. I remembered a piece of advice I’ve been given repeatedly since high school theatre: live in the moment. That’s what I hope all of you can do too, live in the moment. While the song was playing in the background, the three friends sitting in the car with me were wishing us luck and telling me how excited they were for the day. Those organic moments, the ones that happen while you’re living in the present, will make your day a bajillion times more memorable than something you tried to create in advance.

Enough rambling—some pictures to tide you over.

Zeb and I decided that instead of exchanging physical gifts we would exchange wedding day love letters. I had accidentally forgotten to read it before getting my hair done. (Sorry baby, I love you!) I had too much of an audience to truly appreciate the words he had written down at the time. They were beautiful and the letter is something I’ll treasure always.

Of course, I spent some time checking to see if my final post had gone up. My day would have been incomplete without a little love from the hive.

Personally, I think you should’ve gone to your wedding with the hair in your face like the pic of you reading the letter. Also, love the letter idea.

@KCheer: @Miss Pony: @oatmealpie: Thanks! I should probably mention that it isn’t all exactly *my* hair. I mean, I paid for it an all but Jessica Simpson manufactured some of it. :0)

@TheFutureMcBride: …and no makeup too. Talk about a wedding day surprise! ha.

@totheislnds: Ohhhh! I’m so excited about the concert! I’m hoping to go to two.

You’re so gorgeous, Zeebs! I’m so looking forward to the morning of the wedding—there’s something so fun about gettin’ ready and hangin’ out with a bunch of the people you love on such an exciting day! I’ll definitely be sure to live in the moment—thanks for the words of wisdom! ;)
