Mrs. Hippo's Picture
Mrs. Hippo, New York City/Dallas, TX Age and Occupation: 34, Event Planner for a Non-Profit Fiance's Age and Occupation: 35, Finance IT Engagement Date: August 8, 2009 Wedding Date: March 2011 Venue: Samuel Lynne Galleries and Marc Events About Me: I’m a thirty-something bride living in New York City and planning a modern-ish wedding in Dallas, Texas. I love trashy reality television (Jersey Shore, anyone?), online shopping, Sunday brunch, Central Park, and random celebrity spottings on the streets of Manhattan. While I love NYC, I miss good Tex-Mex, my college friends, central A/C, and being in close proximity to a Target. I’m thrilled to finally be planning an event that’s not work-related and to be marrying my best friend in what I hope will be a unique and personal ceremony followed by a reception with plenty of good food, good drinks, and dancing (regardless if it’s good or not).
About Mrs. Hippo

Mama Hippo outdid herself (once again!) when she hosted a ladies’ luncheon the day before the wedding. With four bridesmaids, five house party ladies, Mama Hippo, mother-in-law Hippo, grandmother Hippo, three Hippo aunts, three Hippo cousins, Hippo niece, King Hippo’s niece and two special Hippo family friends in attendance, it was an awesome way to celebrate the women in my life prior to the big day.

With yellow floral centerpieces and adorable navy place cards filled with themed M&M’s, Mama Hippo made the room fit with our wedding colors perfectly. Individual place cards for each guest were made out of mini paper purses. Each one was decorated differently with creative touches like paper flowers and ribbon.

And get this…Mama Hippo even made me a special Weddingbee-themed place card. Yes indeed, hive. That is a hippo…. in a veil!

Mama Hippo outdoes herself again!

After we dined on delicious tasty goodness, I gave my bridesmaids and house party members a gift to thank them for being a part of our wedding. (Sorry hive… somehow I forgot to hand the camera over to someone else for this part!). Each of the women received the best friends plate, and the four bridesmaids also got a custom made clutch.

At the time, I loved the ladies luncheon because it was a really special time with the women who mean so much to me, but I appreciated the luncheon even more after the wedding. Our wedding reception went by so quickly and with so many guests to visit with, I felt pulled in many directions. Having the ladies lunch allowed me to visit with my female family members in a way that I definitely would not have had the chance to do with the rehearsal dinner and wedding reception alone. I’m so glad that Mama Hippo hosted this event as part of the wedding weekend.

After the luncheon, I headed back to our hotel to drop off a few items and relax for a little bit before getting changed for the wedding rehearsal.

Up next…we rehearse for the big show!
