Mrs. Macarons's Picture
Mrs. Macarons, Tampa Age and Occupation: 26, Graphic Designer Fiance's Age and Occupation: 34, Renaissance Man Engagement Date: September 12, 2009 Wedding Date: September 2011 Venue: Lange Farm About Me: I'm creative at heart and a graphic designer with an unhealthy obsession with type. I love roller coasters, spicy foods, and a good glass of Crianza. We’re planning a soft and lovely vintage-meets-modern wedding in a state that’s known for its beaches, glitz and glam. I have a ton of DIY projects and lots of little details I’m dying to share and can't wait to celebrate with our closest friends and family.
About Mrs. Macarons

The one and only Captain, according to the Macarons, will be making an appearance at our reception. No, we’re not inviting him personally, but he will be there in spirit.

While our wedding has lots of personal touches that make my heart flutter, I wanted to include a few details Macs would be crazy about. Enter the non-floral boutonniere:

Macs is going to have to humor me during the ceremony and wear some flowery goodness, but he’ll get to rock the Captain the rest of the evening.

With the guidance of several bees, I put my crafting skills to the test.

I was super lucky in that I found someone on eBay selling the same Captain America as part of a set. I trimmed some floral wire to the appropriate length, then wrapped some more around it for added support. The toughest part was hot-gluing the ribbon given the stripes, but really that’s nothing to complain about; I saved well over $40 by making it myself. I’d even consider making some for the groomsmen, but that’s up to Macs to decide.

How are you incorporating your partner’s interests into the wedding?

This is awesome!! Mr. E is a comic book fan so we incorporated it into my garter and his cufflinks.

LOVE it!!!!!
I’m using picks (as in guitar picks) with the guy’s bouts. :) I think all the guys have played at one time or another or still play the guitar, so it’s perfect! They’re kinda the “center” of a black rose, so it’s a perfect combo!

We’re also using lots of gaming (AD&D) references and movie quotes/references, too. We both game, but he got me into it, so he gets ALL the credit for the ideas!

So awesome! I just saw a post somewhere where the groomsman all had super hero shirts on underneath their suits and were pulling the shirts muscle man style…I loved it and kind of wished my FI was into super heroes. Great job on the bout!

I just showed this to my fiance and he LOVED this idea. He is pretty obsessed with Batman lol… I am planning on getting him batman cufflinks as part of his gift.

That’s such a sweet idea! I’m giving my FI a pair of goalie cufflinks as part of his wedding day gift, but hadn’t thought of doing something so unique with the boutonniere. So creative! :)
