Miss Sweet Cream's Picture
Miss Sweet Cream, Philadelphia Age and Occupation: 26, Public Relations Account Manager Fiance's Age and Occupation: 26, Outside Sales Engagement Date: July 4, 2010 Wedding Date: October 2011 Venue: Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church / Rosebank Winery About Me: Born in the ‘burbs of Philly, it took some time living in the Big Apple to realize that I’m a girl who likes her roots. That’s why the mister and I bought a 1950s house on a charming street not too far from our childhood stompin’ grounds. This could also be the reason why our hometown is the scene where we are planning our super sweet, totally charming, BBQ-for-supper wedding that I never knew I always wanted. I DIE over DIY projects and live for vintage, heartfelt inspiration. I obsess over all things mid-century (from forks to furniture). Love is… cartoons and flea markets, and I am known to whip up a mean banana cream pie. I met the Mr. in grade school and after that boy took me for a spin on the handle bars of his BMX, I knew that things would never be the same again. Besides lovin’ my Mr., I also love to plan, sew and create, and that’s just what I’m doing as I navigate through the details, creating a laid-back day that oozes charm; one that will go down in (at least our) history as the Best. Day. Of all time.
About Miss Sweet Cream

I must say that I absolutely am infatuated with engagement photos. Maybe even more so than snapshots of the couple on the big day.

Personalities stand out, individual styles shine, and sometimes you really can catch a glimpse of the energy, love, and feelings that these two people have for one another.

After booking our oh-so-amazing photographer, Brett Martelli, we started to think about where the heck we would have our engagement pics shot. Brett suggested something that was “us” and, to tell you the truth, a plethora of ideas came to mind. With my mind blurry with remembrance from engagement-picture settings of couples gone before us and posted in the blogosphere, I knew it should be a locale that meant something to us…

Like some of these crazy-adorable couples…

This darling duo talked to their photographer about their love for cooking classes they take together…and look at just one of the amazing shots for the shoot! (Click this link to see more.)

What can be more romantic than a bonfire, a tent, and your sweetie?! These shots almost make me want to throw our settled-upon location in the trash bin!! Mr. Sweets and I love to camp!

These are sweet, earthy, perfectly simplistic shots at this future hubby’s garden plot in Long Beach, where he and his bride-to-be love to plant herbs. (More sweet, earthy, perfectly simplistic shots here!)

This couple—who loves doing home-improvement projects together—chose their home away from home, the one and only Home Depot for their stage. Super. Super. Cute!

Before I divulge the locale for our upcoming sesh, tell me: Did you pick somewhere that was important to you as a couple? Did you have fun just doing what you two like to do? Or was beautiful scenery much more important? Where did you pose for your shots?

We are big movie fans and our first date was at a historic theater so we went there for some of our pictures. We also like to hike so we went to one of the places near FI’s house to do the other 1/2 of our photoshoot.

We did ours on my college campus - TBird is a HUGE Gators fan and we spent a lot of good time on campus when he’d visit, plus the football games and we live here now :) Plus, the scenery is great - it was the best of both worlds!

Hubby and I are really into poker and casinos, so when we planned a trip to Vegas last fall, we made sure to book an e-pic session (bonus: there’s tons of photogs there so we got a great deal). We got some amazing shots at a bunch of different casinos, in front of fountains, at a poker table, and just walking down the Strip with people everywhere. Location is definitely important, and it really made our pics represent who we are.

We love nature so we went to my mom’s beautiful log home in the woods for some great forest shots and garden pics.

We went around my hometown and the lake where Mr. P and my dad fish and I spend all my 4th of Julys. I love the one in people’s homes though, they feel so natural and relaxed.

This gives me such great ideas! We started dating just as he became a ’sub’ for a local bowling league and is now one of the permanent players. Our Tuesday dates always started after bowling ended. They bowl at a vintage lane, I am sure my photographer could come up with some fun shots.

One of my best friends met her boyfriend at the community garden–I can totally see them having engagement photos taken there (I’m not jumping the gun at all…)! We picked a nearby park for ours where we take walks and fish in the summer. :)

I can’t wait to see what you pick! I’ve taken a cooking class at the location in the first photo! I wish I had thought to take engagement pics there, so cute!

We are doing two sessions and the first was urban, so we did shots at the skatepark, on a roof, and at a local bar and they turned out amazing. Can’t wait to see yours!

we wanted fall foliage, so we let the photographer select a tree-filled site… but it just so happens that it’s across the street from where we first met, so that was a fun coincidence!

We’re doing our photos at the beach! We both LOVE the beach, we go there every year with his family and have gone with my family also. I REALLY wanted to get married there but figured a local venue would be better when trying to plan a wedding while in school and not wanting to hire a planner. At least we’ll have e-photos done there! But I’m still trying to figure out what I want to look like…what to wear?!

The location was important to me. We went to my grandparents old farm and took shots with the old barns and pickup trucks in the back. we aren’t sure how much longer those barns will be standing so it was nice to have them captured on film.

I chatted with our photographer about wanting iconic Vancouver scenery in the background. There aren’t any special places in Van for Mr. G since he never lived there, but I was so excited when our photog suggested Stanley Park as a starting point for photos. Can’t wait to see what you pick!
