About Mrs. Pony

Team Girl Squad

June 24th, 2011 @ 5:09 pm by Mrs. Pony

Yes, the title of this post is shamelessly stolen from Teen Girl Squad, which if you have never seen before you need to go watch immediately so we can giggle about being MSG’d and possum’d.

Choosing who would stand next to me on my wedding day was surprisingly easy for me. I thought I would envy those brides that are lucky enough to have sisters or female cousins (I have neither), because they are obvious choices for a bridal party. Then I realized that I get to choose whomever I want, instead of feeling any obligation or guilt over my decision. After realizing that, it was just a matter of asking them to buy a dress.

So who is on Team Girl Squad?

Cheerleader

If this picture looks familiar, just look to your right.

MOH Cheerleader and I met in 5th grade when she moved to the area and started attending my grade school. We remained friends throughout junior high, bonding over our mutual love for learning Spanish and complaining about our uncooperative hair (mi pelo mira ver miarda). Although MOH Cheerleader and I went to separate high schools and colleges, we stayed good friends and decided to test our friendship by living together in law school. After sharing classes, study group, intense softball games, an obsession for the Twilight Saga, and an all around awesome time in law school, MOH Cheerleader has proven to be a wonderful friend to both Mr. Pony and me.

So and So

So and So and me back in the day.

BM So and So and I met while working together at a national department store, where we shared a love of good music, road-trips, and taking naps at work. We love creating fake bands, our favorites of which include Mighty Mitochondria and Street Sign Fornication, even though the only singing we do is to each other in the car. I’ve had some of my greatest adventures with BM So and So, but our greatest adventures are happening this year as we get to celebrate both of our marriages only a month apart!

What’s Her Face

BM What’s Her Face and I in the happiest place on earth

I met BM What’s Her Face when we were just tots in kindergarten and we never separated–not through our awkward junior high days, our happy high school years, the blur that was college, or the stress that was grad school. We share an obsession with Harry Potter, a love of Disney, and an uncanny ability to finish each others’ thoughts. We’ve shared countless memories over the years, and, in just a few short weeks we will be creating a bunch of new memories as we celebrate BM What’s Her Face’s wedding in July.

The Pretty One*

Team Girl Squad : wedding bloomington 9725 72 9725_72

Me and The Pretty One at Halloween, our favorite holiday!

BM Pretty One and I went to high school together, but I did not know how crazy and awesome she is until we lived together in college. Even though BM Pretty One and I have very different thoughts on bacon, we share a love of crappy MTV shows (Maui Fever!), recycling, and talking weddings. BM Pretty One looks sweet and innocent but I have heard some of the weirdest things come out of that mouth.

Even though my girls are all from different time periods of my life, we all worked together at the same department store in our college days, which works out well because not only have they all met, but we are all super comfortable with each other. So, those are my girls. As you can tell, we’re all a little crazy, but I think it will make for an awesome time and maybe some super fun pictures.

I’m so excited that these ladies have agreed to stand up with me on our wedding day, I couldn’t imagine a better group of support surrounding me as our wedding draws nearer.

How did you pick your ladies? Do your ladies know each other or will they be making new friends at your wedding festivities?

*The name is actually The Ugly One, but that is mean and not true of any of my girls, so I changed it a bit to be more fitting.

LOL! love it!
I’m gonna have three (four if one other actually SHOWS UP, but no promise on that, lol). Two have met, the third lives in Richmond and hasn’t met the other two. Oh wells! My two BMs are dating two of our best friends (and also my FI’s GMs) and the MOH (who lives in Richmond) is a friend of my FI who is also a friend of mine and who I love hanging out with….

Wave of babies!

I have two sisters and a best friend (since age 7)… but my fiance was struggling to narrow his guys down to only 4, never mind 3! I ended up picking a cousin who I was close to growing up and who recently moved back to Canada from australia… but when I’ve told other family members that she’s in my wedding party the reply is “oh…. really?…” pretty much every time and now I feel SUPER awkward and like it was a strange choice? I’ve never had a lot of friends (in fact I only have one other friend coming to the wedding besides my MOH).

Ha, I love Homestar Runner. My youngest sister and I used to watch Teen Girl Squad together all the time. I was a goal of mine to get her the “I have a crush on every boy” t-shirt. Sadly, it never happened. Maybe it would make a good bridesmaid gift? I have a feeling her boyfriend wouldn’t appreciate it as much…

HA! I love that you named your bridesmaids like Teen Girl Squad!
“I like … cloth.”
“Did that girl just say she likes cloth?”
“She likes cloth. That’s a good band name.”
