Mrs. Plaid, Austin Age and Occupation: 26, Pastry Chef Fiance's Age and Occupation: 34, Cabinetry Carpenter Engagement Date: August 8, 2009 Wedding Date: October 2010 Venue: Kindred Oaks, Georgetown About Me: I am a Jersey girl born and raised but have since migrated to Texas and embraced its twang and Tex-Mex. I could probably eat chips and queso every day but instead I eat popcorn. I use the word “awesome” way too much but I just can’t seem to stop myself. I am addicted to all things DIY and am planning what I call a Texas-Chic wedding. I love snuggling with my two adorable dogs and of course, my adorable fiance. I can’t wait 'til I can call him my husband some day! October 2010, here we come!
About Mrs. Plaid

As the evening was coming to a close, we danced one more dance to Last Dance by Donna Summer and then it was time for the guests to head out to the front of the house for our sparkler send-off.

When Mr. P and I exited the front door the house to descend the stairs we were met by a cloud of smoke. Apparently the wind that had died down shortly before our ceremony decided to return making for a very smoky exit, instead of the expected sparkly exit.

Our poor guests were choking on the smoke, but at the same time it was magical. It felt like we were rock stars walking out on stage for our final performance!

And with that we climbed on to the back of our “fancy” get-away vehicle (a golf cart that our friends sneakily decorated with signs, cans and streamers), waved goodbye to our friends and family and we were off!

I’ve still got a couple more posts to write so don’t go anywhere!

I think the smoke makes for a nice effect - at least in the photos!

It does look magical, that’s exactly what I thought while I was reading this post! At least your guests were good sports about the smoke!

Wow, those pics of your exit are beautiful!! And, if you don’t mind my asking - where exactly did you drive the golf cart TO? We really want to do a sparkler send-off and golf cart getaway since we’re getting married at a golf course, but once we get into the cart, we’re not really sure what happens next, since we can’t exactly drive it on a public road to the hotel, no?? Or can we?

It does look like a rock star exit! I like the sign on the golf cart. :)

Thanks ladies!
@ThePinkPeony: It’s kinda funny actually. Our venue had a honeymoon suite on site so the golf cart just took us down the hill and pretty much around in a circle and then back up to the house. By the time we got back to the house the guests had mostly cleared up so no one really saw us come back. You could always just have a car waiting away from the venue and just have the golf cart drop you at the car!

I read it too fast the first time and thought it said “we were met with a cloud of SNAKES!” haha I’m glad it was just smoke! It really is magical looking - very cool!

What did the cards say infront of the sparklers? We’re doing a sparkler send off and I’ve been trying to think of some cute saying to place with the sparklers.

@adbailey87: they said sparkle, flash and fire. There will be more pics in the next post.
