Miss Sweet Cream's Picture
Miss Sweet Cream, Philadelphia Age and Occupation: 26, Public Relations Account Manager Fiance's Age and Occupation: 26, Outside Sales Engagement Date: July 4, 2010 Wedding Date: October 2011 Venue: Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church / Rosebank Winery About Me: Born in the ‘burbs of Philly, it took some time living in the Big Apple to realize that I’m a girl who likes her roots. That’s why the mister and I bought a 1950s house on a charming street not too far from our childhood stompin’ grounds. This could also be the reason why our hometown is the scene where we are planning our super sweet, totally charming, BBQ-for-supper wedding that I never knew I always wanted. I DIE over DIY projects and live for vintage, heartfelt inspiration. I obsess over all things mid-century (from forks to furniture). Love is… cartoons and flea markets, and I am known to whip up a mean banana cream pie. I met the Mr. in grade school and after that boy took me for a spin on the handle bars of his BMX, I knew that things would never be the same again. Besides lovin’ my Mr., I also love to plan, sew and create, and that’s just what I’m doing as I navigate through the details, creating a laid-back day that oozes charm; one that will go down in (at least our) history as the Best. Day. Of all time.
About Miss Sweet Cream

I teased you with engagement sessions in meaningful, special places, like cooking classes, fishing holes, and garden plots. And I mentioned that I almost threw our big idea into the can after seeing the super, super amazing camping shots.

You’re probably thinking: OK, Sweet Cream! What’s this big idea anyway??

Well, hive…I might have mentioned the Sweet Creams’ history that started in grade school, so we decided to take it back there…yes, way back there.

Ever since the beginning of time (OK. Maybe I am exaggerating just a little. It was 1956 to be exact.), our little Catholic parish has held the biggest fair in town. People would get super excited to go ride the rides, eat cotton candy until they were ready to be sick, and hang out with their pals. During the summers of the late 1990s, Mr. Sweets and I were no exception to this rule. We just loved our town’s fair.

So that is where we decided to have it: the fair.

And apparently, many couples have oh-so-lovely shots from their town fairs. Just look!!

What can beat balloons, slides, cotton candy, snow cones, and cuddly kisses on ferris wheels?

So I know it’s going to be crowded. And perhaps a little hot. But the pictures we could get with the excitement, bold colors, delish super-sugary treats, and our sweet little walk down memory lane is totally worth it. And I just know our uhmazing photographer, Brett Martelli, will deliver.

So, hive, any tips for the engagement sesh for me? Props? No props? One outfit or two? Bold print? Solid color? A stop-bein’-so-darn-nervous sip of a little somethin’ somethin’?

Help me, puuhleeeze!! I’m dying to know what you know.

I would go with solid bold colors! I would use lots of props from the fair. Cotton candy, funnel cake, and corn dogs. Take pics near funny mirrors, rides and even a quiet moment by a tree. I would even be spontaneous with it and just go with the moment. One more…maybe get a pic while getting a characterture drawn of the two of u.

I’d say bring an extra outfit, just so you have some variety! And I think you’ll have plenty of prop options there. You’ll be fine, this is a fab idea!

Oh! This locale is going to make for such fun photos! I think bold, solid colors would look lovely, and when in doubt bring it all (if it’s not too much of a hassle of course). :)

I agree about bold, solid colors probably being your best bet. No need to bring props - you’ll have so many on hands at the fair! Can’t wait to see the results.

We just had our engagement photos shot at a huge carnival last week - it was such a great time! It allows a lot of opportunity to be silly and romantic. The photographer just sent us a teaser, and already the colour makes me sooo excited to see the rest!

I brought two outfits just to shake it up a little. Something casual that I would wear every day, and then something that is more ‘date night’ attire.

Whatever you choose, good luck!
