Mrs. Snow Cone's Picture
Mrs. Snow Cone, Pittsburgh/Johnstown, PA Age and Occupation: 23, Public Health Graduate Student Fiance's Age and Occupation: 23, Engineer Engagement Date: April 9, 2010 Wedding Date: August 2011 Venue: OMOS Church ceremony/Sunnehanna Country Club reception About Me: I’m one of the lucky ones---I met my future husband at the ripe old age of 13, started dating him as a mature woman of 15, and have been enjoying the ride ever since. Here we are, 8 years later, living in Pittsburgh, planning a "homestination" wedding in the place our school romance began---Johnstown, PA. I thrive on talking a mile a minute, eating my weight in chocolate, and internet shopping. I love a lengthy to-do list almost as much as I love a healthy amount of chaos in my life. Mr. Snow Cone and I watch countless episodes of Friends and The West Wing on repeat, root for rival college sports teams, and make each other laugh each and every day. We’re putting together a small-town wedding with a big personality and a classically modern (or modernly classic?) look for 250 of our closest family and friends. It’s been 8+ years in the making, and sometimes I still can’t believe I’m finally getting to marry my high school sweetheart!
About Mrs. Snow Cone

My New Favorite Thing to Do

June 27th, 2011 @ 9:12 am by Mrs. Snow Cone

I waste a disgusting amount of time online.  Reading celebrity gossip, stalking wedding blogs, blogging myself, and so on.  It’s rare for me to be in a room by myself and not have my eyes glued to the glow emitted from my beloved Dell.  Anyhow, I’ve recently discovered a fun new way to pass the time when putzing around online.

Step 1: Type the designer and style number or name of your wedding gown into Google.

Step 2: Go to the top left portion of the screen and click on the link that says “more.”

Step 3: Scroll down to “Blogs.”

By following those three very easy steps, you can probably find a number of blogs that have featured your wedding dress! It’s a fun little activity because if you wade past the pre-owned dress sales, you can usually find some photography blogs that feature other brides in your gown. A good number of photographers include a list of the couple’s wedding vendors at the bottom of the photography entry, which makes it quite easy to find blog entries that feature your dress! I like this approach better than just doing an image search, since most of those results are photos of models directly from the designer’s site, which is a little boring.

While part of me is possessive of my gown and doesn’t enjoy the thought of others donning it on their wedding days, a bigger part of me is more obsessed with the idea of seeing the gown in the context of others’ weddings. You get an awesome opportunity to see how others accessorized—what earrings they picked, what type of veil they selected. You also can get a glimpse into how the dress meshed into the overall context of the rest of the event. Personally, staring at these other weddings gets me so excited to have my dress fitted to my body to look perfect for our wedding. It definitely spikes the anticipation and excitement!

I’ve actually never seen my dress (Mori Lee 4514) on another bride. Even searching the blogs, all I found is the stock image on the Mori Lee website.

I was so hopeful after reading this post, but alas, I still have not seen a picture of a real bride wearing my dress. I love the variety of brides in your dress!

omgosh i LOVE this! thanks for finding me another way to waste my time :) . the only thing i’m worried about is getting sick of my dress, starting to doubt it’s the right dress, or also just not having that feeling of it being MY dress. but it’s just too good to pass up blogs & fun pictures of my dress! so hopefully i’ll find some good ones :)

No brides in my dress either! Actually, I have only found one other person on Weddingbee who is wearing the same dress. I like that though – will be a unique dress!

I seem to never be able to find my dress in WHITE on a real bride. My dress is sold standard in red. I did try though and I love the pictures of your dress.

lol. only thing that came up was a comment that I made about my dress to one of the bee bloggers!

i guess this just means that we need to all post pictures so that future brides can see them, right? :)

I found a couple of my dress (and a couple of my blog posts!). I’m still glad it’s not a super popular style, though!

I found a lot of evidence of people saying ‘I’m wearing this dress!’ and then showing the stock photo, but only one example of someone actually wearing it… and it was only her trying it on to get fit. Alas!

Hey, I never knew about that “more” option! I found a bunch of used dress listings for mine, probably because it’s an older style. :)

I’m jealous, I want to see such beautiful real-bride photos of my dress! No entries come up for mine (Allure Exclusive 2356) :-/ Oh well, guess that just means my dress is unique!

Rats, no pictures of my dress. Guess it’s unique! But now that I know about this Google function, I’ll have to periodically check to see if there’s any pics of my beautiful dress. :-)
