About Mrs. Cannon

Simply Engaging

June 28th, 2011 @ 2:34 pm by Mrs. Cannon

Oh, boy! Remember how excited, anxious, and nervous I was about getting back our engagement pictures? Well, not long after writing that post we got an email from the head of our photography company! It felt like forever but was maybe a little over two weeks from the pictures being taken to us getting to see them, which is especially impressive if you consider the fact that said head of the company was giving birth to her first child the same day we got our pictures done.

When I initially wrote about getting our pictures done, I don’t think I emphasized how much we laughed and how much fun we had. Much like creating our registry, it was almost like a little date to get some time together to just goof off. One of the things that has really surprised me about wedding planning is how many memories are made just planning. Mr. Cannon and I work different schedules, and we don’t get to see each other as often as we’d like, so we really cherish any time we do get to see each other. The wedding planning has given us a lot of opportunities to think about our relationship and concentrate on each other in a way that we don’t do on an everyday basis. Taking engagement pictures was a big example of that, and I’m really glad we did it. I think our happiness and love really came through in the pictures, and I’m incredibly pleased with them.

So, without further ado, the Cannons!

I think this series is my favorite from the day. We were at a park downtown and there was a couple sitting on a bench watching us as Abby took the pictures, which was kind of awkward. But we had a lot of fun.

And we had some smoochy ones, which are always fun.

We played in a field and had some fun.

We looked sexy.

And Miss Snow Cone and Miss Cotton Candy tried to weasel their ways into the background of my pictures!

These are just a few of the awesomely gorgeous pictures we got from our engagement session. You can see more in greater detail where our photographer blogged about them if you feel so inclined. I’m incredibly happy with what we got.

A few things I would suggest if you are going to get your pictures done soon:

  1. Make sure your hair and makeup will actually survive the shoot. I did my own hair and it got pretty frizzy by the end of the day due to the humidity. I ended up just throwing it in a ponytail when I changed into my casual outfit.
  2. Be prepared for the weather! It was so freaking hot the day we did pictures. We were both really sweaty. Although they managed to make us look like we were NOT dying of heat, I would have brought some blotting papers for me or a napkin for Mr. Cannon to wipe the sweat off if I had thought of it at the time.
  3. Have fun! Mr. Cannon and I were joking and having fun the whole time. Whenever we were doing something awkward, we thought of something even more awkward to do, which made us laugh harder and gave us even better pictures.
  4. Get to know your photographer! As I mentioned earlier, we got a beer with our photographer before the shoot so we could talk and feel more comfortable around her. It really made us feel more comfortable when it was picture time.

How did your engagement pictures turn out? Were you happy with both your photo-shoot experience and the pictures that came from it?

You guys are so cute, I love your pics! We felt pretty goofy getting our e-pics done too but the ones where we were laughing at each other turned out the best.

These are so cute! We had ours done on a hot day and those are some great tips to bring blotting sheets.

I love the pictures and I will definitely need the blotting sheets!

I think getting a beer with your photographer before the shoot is the best idea ever…I get nervous in front of the camera!
