Miss Sweet Cream's Picture
Miss Sweet Cream, Philadelphia Age and Occupation: 26, Public Relations Account Manager Fiance's Age and Occupation: 26, Outside Sales Engagement Date: July 4, 2010 Wedding Date: October 2011 Venue: Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church / Rosebank Winery About Me: Born in the ‘burbs of Philly, it took some time living in the Big Apple to realize that I’m a girl who likes her roots. That’s why the mister and I bought a 1950s house on a charming street not too far from our childhood stompin’ grounds. This could also be the reason why our hometown is the scene where we are planning our super sweet, totally charming, BBQ-for-supper wedding that I never knew I always wanted. I DIE over DIY projects and live for vintage, heartfelt inspiration. I obsess over all things mid-century (from forks to furniture). Love is… cartoons and flea markets, and I am known to whip up a mean banana cream pie. I met the Mr. in grade school and after that boy took me for a spin on the handle bars of his BMX, I knew that things would never be the same again. Besides lovin’ my Mr., I also love to plan, sew and create, and that’s just what I’m doing as I navigate through the details, creating a laid-back day that oozes charm; one that will go down in (at least our) history as the Best. Day. Of all time.
About Miss Sweet Cream

So dear hive, I’ve shared with you about some accessories that are a must for me on the big day. But what about my, sweet, sweet Mister?

I told you that we nailed down a general idea of just what he and his guys will show up in on the big day… but I forgot to mention one thing. Well, Mr. Sweets…he likes his accessories manly!

Mr. Sweets is a sucker for watches, cologne, sunglasses, (baseball) hats (that he collects like a kid collects baseball cards!), Nikes, Phillies t-shirts, retro sports jerseys… OK, well maybe some of those aren’t accessories, although they are manly, manly things—but you get the idea.

So, Mr. Sweets has yet to decide on his exact attire for the big day (except that it will be a charcoal grey suit of some kind). But like me, he also loves accessorizing finding things to go with his clothes.

So he thought that these cuff links were pretty darn cool, and just like that, we ordered them!

Mr. Sweets wanted to get them with his own initials and they look even better than the virtual display of them on his Etsy site.

Then, I sent Mr. Sweets a picture of these super cool spectator shoes I saw on Ebay.

The downside is that they are $295 for the 1930s-ish solecandy, and Mr. Sweets doubts he’d ever wear them again…or at least wear them that much.

But there are similar pairs (although not with a story to tell!) out there. Mr. Sweets wants (for me) to keep looking, but at the moment, he’s kinda feelin’ these:

And since we are on the subject of accessorizing (sorry, Mr. Sweets—I do know that you despise the word…they aren’t “accessories,” but just for the sake of this post I have to call them that. OK?) perhaps Mr. Sweets would like the idea of some kind of hat?

And I know that Mr. Sweets would just love a new watch to add to his ever growing time-keeping collection for the big day. (He feels about watches, just as I do about shoes, you really can never have enough!).

Grooms, are you psyched for any new ermm… “accessories” for your big day? What “accessories” are your grooms rockin’? A favorite pair of chucks? A vintage pocket watch? A stellar pair of sunglasses?

Do tell!

If you are still looking for spectators Aris Allen makes a pair (also wingtips) and knowing several people who dance in them can say that once broken in are pretty comfortable. (FH, BM, and I all dance in other aris allens)

They also have black or brown wingtip/spat shoes that are pretty nice.

two words, LEGO cufflinks. I think those were the only “accessories” that he wore but he loved them so much.

I think I was more psyched for Mr. S’s accessories than he was. I bought him a tie with our schools emblem on it, which I was so excited about. I think his response was it’s cool.

I like the spectator shoes! Very fancy, perfect for a wedding.

Mr. CukeSammie is totally unconcerned with accessories. Maybe that means I get to pick them! I love that watch!

Mr. Tartlet would love those white and grey wingtips. He was totally shop-happy getting new accessories for the wedding, especially cufflinks!

Mmm, I love those cufflinks! The mister rarely if ever dresses up, but it occurred to me he might like something like this for his monkey suit the day of. So perhaps I will gift him those!

@Knubbsy-Wubbsy - thanks for the tip! That’s great!!

@Pretzel - Lego cufflinks sound very very cool!

@Ladyfingers… you totally should! They are vintage typewriter keys… so cool, right?

@Stripes - I must say that I do too! I will totally do a post once the Mister gets all his ducks…or “accessories” I should say… in a row.

@Starfish - that tie you picked out for your Mister sounds awesome.

My fiance has though black & white spectator shoes. He bought them for Halloween when we dressed up like pimps. I just couldn’t believe he would spend that much money for a Halloween accessory and like never wear the shoes again! But they are quite awesome. What size is Mr. Sweet Cream?
