There was no argument about our first dance. The song is a favorite around this house. You may know Jonathan Richman as the lead singer of The Modern Lovers. You may know him from his long solo career. You may know him as the acoustic guitar guy in There’s Something About Mary. Maybe you don’t know him at all. All I know is if you don’t know this song, you’re really missing out.
When Mr. Cannon and I started dating, I couldn’t believe that I had found someone so unbelievable perfect for me. I had never met someone who held so many of the same beliefs and values that I did.
Or who had such a great attitude and awesome sense of humor. He was everything I wanted. He was more than I prayed for. So, pretty much every mix tape, CD, or playlist I’ve made for Mr. Cannon has included this song.
It means so much to me that I’ve tied it into another element of our wedding. Check it out, yo!

Yup, that’s my wedding ring! I had a hard time deciding what I was looking for in a ring, but finally found this lovely band at gemvara. I was actually looking for necklaces and rings with Cherry Bomb’s birthstone on them because Mr. Cannon was hounding me for Mother’s Day gift ideas. Instead, I found this beauty and realized it would make a killer wedding band. I fell in love with the delicate styling and the little bling. And as you can see, I got it engraved to remind me how lucky I am to have found a man who is more than I prayed for.
Does your first dance song have a special meaning? How did you find your wedding ring? Did you get it engraved with anything special?
