Miss Sweet Cream, PhiladelphiaAge and Occupation: 26, Public Relations Account ManagerFiance's Age and Occupation: 26, Outside SalesEngagement Date: July 4, 2010Wedding Date: October 2011Venue: Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church / Rosebank WineryAbout Me: Born in the ‘burbs of Philly, it took some time living in the Big Apple to realize that I’m a girl who likes her roots. That’s why the mister and I bought a 1950s house on a charming street not too far from our childhood stompin’ grounds. This could also be the reason why our hometown is the scene where we are planning our super sweet, totally charming, BBQ-for-supper wedding that I never knew I always wanted. I DIE over DIY projects and live for vintage, heartfelt inspiration. I obsess over all things mid-century (from forks to furniture). Love is… cartoons and flea markets, and I am known to whip up a mean banana cream pie. I met the Mr. in grade school and after that boy took me for a spin on the handle bars of his BMX, I knew that things would never be the same again. Besides lovin’ my Mr., I also love to plan, sew and create, and that’s just what I’m doing as I navigate through the details, creating a laid-back day that oozes charm; one that will go down in (at least our) history as the Best. Day. Of all time.
After we began checking things off our big-picture list, we began to think of who we would want to stand by us on The Big Day. Of course we knew just who…but the time-killer was how to complete the mission of the ask. Being so stressed about the perfect ask for my BMs completely made me get just a glimpse into the intensity of planning a proposal. I realize that this wasn’t as big of a deal as a “proposal” where I’d have to get down on one knee, but I still wanted it to be special.
I realize it could have been easier just to ask. But I never let myself off that easy.
I loved ideas from all over the bridal online universe…

Mrs. Macarons, TampaAge and Occupation: 26, Graphic DesignerFiance's Age and Occupation: 34, Renaissance ManEngagement Date: September 12, 2009Wedding Date: September 2011Venue: Lange FarmAbout Me: I'm creative at heart and a graphic designer with an unhealthy obsession with type. I love roller coasters, spicy foods, and a good glass of Crianza. We’re planning a soft and lovely vintage-meets-modern wedding in a state that’s known for its beaches, glitz and glam. I have a ton of DIY projects and lots of little details I’m dying to share and can't wait to celebrate with our closest friends and family.
Mrs. Zebra, Providence, RIAge and Occupation: 24 Marketing/Costume DesignerFiance's Age and Occupation: 26 Management/Firefighter Engagement Date: December 12, 2008Wedding Date: March 2011Venue: The Providence BiltmoreAbout Me: I'm a small town New England girl with an affinity for procrastination, crossing the proverbial line, and putting her foot in her mouth. I'm a lover of history, all seasons, sewing and Incubus. I design costumes on the side for my old high school's theatre department, which is where I met my sexy man. Our motto for our Big Fat Lebanese/Portuguese/Irish near-300 person wedding is "the more the merrier"! We are marrying in a Catholic ceremony and are hammering out the details of our Victorian-inspired reception.
I jumped out of bed at 6 AM on Friday, March 25. My bustle was finished and I was getting married! If you’re keeping track, that’s a grand total of 3 hours of sleep. I had stocked my fridge with 5 Hour Energy drinks in order to keep myself afloat in the week prior but I certainly didn’t need it. I was high on life and that will keep you awake and aware for as long as you’ll allow it.
I ran to the gym to get a quick cardio workout in before heading over to the nail salon for a day of pampering with my bridesmaids and close family.
Miss Marmalade, Norwalk, CT/Raleigh, NCAge and Occupation: 27, Administrative AssistantFiance's Age and Occupation: 28, Army OfficerEngagement Date: December 31, 2009Wedding Date: July 2011Venue: Old Cadet Chapel/Highlands Country ClubAbout Me: I'm a Tri-State area "lady," through and through. A big chunk of my life has been split between NYC and Connecticut, and I'm finally heading down south to live with Mr. Marmalade. Our long distance relationship has been one adventure after the next, we've spent time in Texas, Louisiana, Florida, and Georgia, thanks to his military career. Next to Mr. Marmalade, my loves include live music, useless trivia, shoes, design, and my crazy half-tiger kitty, Oliver. I have a passion for food and wine, and I've been known to travel long distances to get my hands on the best meals. I come from a tight-knit big fat Greek Ecuadorian family---we're loud, we talk with our hands, and we spend hours talking loudly with our hands over large meals. I'm going to miss them so much as I pack up and begin my life, far away from home. But with Mr. Marmalade by my side, I'm ready to take on whatever may come. Next up: our wedding!
Right after Mr. M proposed, the questions started coming. It was a little overwhelming. And by a little, I mean—whoa. The thrill of the proposal was nearly overshadowed by the reality the next year would bring. So, let’s join the past Lady M…
I have a ring. It’s a gorgeous ring: sparkly, classic, more than I could have imagined. But what’s next? For most people the next steps might involve creating a budget, finding a venue, and picking a date. Except we’re waiting for another date. You see, we can’t plan much of anything until we know the date of his next deployment.
Mrs. Biscuit, Morgantown, WVAge and Occupation: 24, Dental StudentFiance's Age and Occupation: 26, Chemist at a pharmaceutical companyEngagement Date: April 2010Wedding Date: July 2011Venue: Catholic Church, Lakeview Golf Resort and SpaAbout Me: I'm an engineer who decided to trek back to my hometown three years ago to become skilled in the arts of drilling and filling. I'm engaged to a pretty awesome guy who tests your assorted benzodiazepines by day and home brews by night. Together we have two fur children, Tsali and Tobias N. Fünkat. I'm a lazy perfectionist and eternal sorority girl who enjoys running, crafting, string cheese, good beer, and bad reality TV. We are planning a Big Fat Italian/Sicilian/Polish wedding filled with DIY details and are expecting 300 +/- 50 guests. Our whimsical summer affair is themed "Alice attends the Mad Hatter Vintage Garden Tea Party in a Ballroom. She Thinks That The Venue is Odd for a Vintage Garden Party, but is Tripping on LSD, so She Doesn't Really Care." Yes, I am the Dickens of themes.
Hive, I’m about to have my bridal shower. I’m pretty excited, as it should be a good time.
My grandmother was kind enough to deposit some money in my checking account as my shower gift. Side note—any one else think this is kinda funny? Because she is showering me with money—so, technically making it rain? OK, maybe that’s just me.
Anywho, she gave me the deposit slip and then said that she wanted me to buy something “personal” with it. I was so excited that I had free rein to spend it on something other than something for the wedding. Then I realized that she may have meant:

Mrs. Cannon, Toledo, OHAge and Occupation: 27, Financial AnalystFiance's Age and Occupation: 28, AssemblerEngagement Date: February 28, 2011Wedding Date: September 2011Venue: Epworth UMC & Ward PavilionAbout Me: I'm the curious combination of being a go-with-the-flow, laid back, obsessive planner. I try desperately to stay as busy as possible at all times (and am succeeding big time right now!) My biggest loves in life are Law & Order: SVU, Community (the show, not the concept, although I like that, too), ice cream, white cheddar popcorn, beer, hiking, knitting, decorating, writing, being outside, spending time with friends and family and musical theater. Mr. Cannon is pretty sweet, too. We've had a lot of fun traveling and having adventures all over the country, but have finally moved back near our hometown to settle down. We're planning a low-key, colorful, fun wedding and an awesome-to-the-max reception.
As I mentioned before, a mere eight months into dating I got a job offer across the country. The reason I even applied for said job was due to the influence of Mr. Cannon. You might recall that Mr. Cannon had just returned from a year of travel when we started dating. His traveling had started with a job at the Grand Tetons National Park. Before I met him, the idea of working in a national park had never crossed my mind. However, it had always been a dream of mine to see the Grand Canyon. With the idea that I could not only see the Grand Canyon but live at the Grand Canyon, I started searching for accounting jobs in the area. Luckily there were a few listed, so I applied and waited to hear something. After some phone interviews, I found out I was hired!
While this was great news for fresh-outta-college-into-the-crappy-job-market me, it was confusing for Mr. Cannon and me as a couple. We hadn’t even been together for a year yet. Should I ask him to come with me? Did he even want to come with me? We were having a lot of fun together and had declared our love for one another, but were we ready for the massive step of moving cross country together? Read more…
Mrs. High Wire, DallasAge and Occupation: 23, Legal AssistantFiance's Age and Occupation: 25, Director of CommunicationsEngagement Date: October 9, 2010Wedding Date: September 2011Venue: Clark GardensAbout Me: My loves include yoga, anything spicy, our eccentric cat, our rambunctious dog, and Mr. High Wire, of course! Like the steadiness act of the tightrope walker, this gal is busy balancing life while planning a wedding to the man of her dreams. We’re hosting a laid-back, vintage-inspired, bird themed wedding with heavy doses of love, good eats (did someone say tacos and margaritas?), and endless Texas charm. Mr. High Wire and I are so happy to have you along for the walk across the tight rope.
First off, this isn’t going to have anything to do with hygiene. Mr. High Wire gets an A+ in that department already.
We’re talking about the other kind of showers—the ones that involve “showering” the bride with gifts before the wedding.
Nowadays, showers aren’t only for the bride. In bridal-shower history, the shower was in place as an alternative to the dowry that was offered along with the bride to the groom. But that is most likely not the case for very many marriages in our circles anymore.
Grooms deserve a little celebrations in their honor! Three cheers for equality. :) Here are some different ways to involve the groom during shower season.
Tool Party
This can be an event specifically for the groom where guests bring gifts like power tools, lawn and garden supplies, etc.
Mrs. Sparkler, ChicagoAge and Occupation: 27, Communications AficionadoFiance's Age and Occupation: 26, PublisherEngagement Date: July 21, 2010Wedding Date: September 2011Venue: Chicago Illuminating CompanyAbout Me: I’m a Southern lady living in the big city of Chicago. Well, lady may be a stretch, but I’m working hard to keep some Virginia charm in our sleek, urban, wedding-palooza! I’m addicted to marathons, not-so-famous bands, Chicago restaurants, and Mark Twain. I cry during SPCA commercials, and I think LOST was the best show to ever hit television. Mr. S and I met at a classy college mixer and, 7 years later, he’s still by my side. He’s the only child, laid back, free spirit... I’m the oldest of five kids, type-A, organizer. It doesn’t work on paper, but we’ve never paid attention to that stuff anyway. Somehow it works. And like they say, sometimes when you know…you just know.
Right now I am feeling completely overwhelmed with the stress of getting our invitations finalized. They need to go out in like, ummm two-and-a-half weeks? And I am stalling the entire printing process because of four little letters:
Why so much stress over one tiny component in our invitation suite? Because I like to think of the RSVP card as an opportunity to inject a little personality, be a little less serious, and give our guests a chance to have some fun too. I always imagined having RSVP cards that allowed space for our guests to leave us a little message:

Well…just as a refresher, here they are—all adorable!
Here they are lying flat on a table…but scroll down to see them hanging vertically in all of their glory.
