After my hair appointment, I headed back to our bridal suite to hang out with the girls and finish getting ready. We had plenty of time, so we had a leisurely lunch and spent a lot of time just chatting. I don’t live in the same city as any of the members of our wedding party, so it was awesome to have the uninterrupted time with my girls.
If you remember from this post, I decided to do my own makeup for the wedding. I felt pretty good about that decision for months, but a few days before the wedding, I got really nervous about it and totally started second guessing my decision. When Sister Hippo told me a day or two before the wedding that in addition to scheduling an appointment to get her hair done she was also going to get her makeup done for the wedding, my anxiety level went through the roof. If she was getting her makeup done professionally as the MOH, I surely should have had mine done as the bride. What was I thinking??!??? I made a panicked phone call to the salon the day before the wedding, but they weren’t able to get me in at a time that worked. It was just as well, I told myself… without having done a makeup trial, it was probably a bad decision. When Sister Hippo came back from the salon looking GORGEOUS with her makeup perfectly applied, I freaked out a little again. What the hell was I thinking?!??
Sister Hippo and some of the other bridesmaids had to reassure me that I was good at doing my own makeup and it would be completely fine that I was doing it myself. I went ahead and got started so that I could go slowly and wouldn’t feel rushed for time. And even though there were 8 other people in the room, I managed to secure my own little corner of the suite and really focus on my application, applying multiple thin layers of makeup until I got it just right.
Even though I was majorly worried, I was really pleased with how my makeup turned out. Crises averted, and money saved!
With all of our hair and makeup done, it was time to get dressed….
