Mrs. Marmalade's Picture
Mrs. Marmalade, Norwalk, CT/Raleigh, NC Age and Occupation: 27, Administrative Assistant Fiance's Age and Occupation: 28, Army Officer Engagement Date: December 31, 2009 Wedding Date: July 2011 Venue: Old Cadet Chapel/Highlands Country Club About Me: I'm a Tri-State area "lady," through and through. A big chunk of my life has been split between NYC and Connecticut, and I'm finally heading down south to live with Mr. Marmalade. Our long distance relationship has been one adventure after the next, we've spent time in Texas, Louisiana, Florida, and Georgia, thanks to his military career. Next to Mr. Marmalade, my loves include live music, useless trivia, shoes, design, and my crazy half-tiger kitty, Oliver. I have a passion for food and wine, and I've been known to travel long distances to get my hands on the best meals. I come from a tight-knit big fat Greek Ecuadorian family---we're loud, we talk with our hands, and we spend hours talking loudly with our hands over large meals. I'm going to miss them so much as I pack up and begin my life, far away from home. But with Mr. Marmalade by my side, I'm ready to take on whatever may come. Next up: our wedding!

And the First Save the Date Goes To... : wedding raleigh save the dates Drumro drum+ro

Mr. Marmalade!

I couldn’t send our save the dates out into the world until he’d laid eyes on them. So it’s a little unorthodox, I know. My mom thought I was nuts. “What do you mean you’re sending one to him, too!?’” Well, he hasn’t seen what I came up with! And I want him to feel like he’s still part of this whole planning thing. Trust me, I’m sure he’s saving the date.

I’m just so excited and I can’t wait to hear what he thinks! Hopefully he likes it, because there’s no going back now. Sorry, there aren’t any pictures of his envelope—I would have had to blur out pretty much everything because I’m sending it to his APO. I’ll reveal them to you very very soon. Promise!

Just wanted to share this little bit of excitement. Who’s with me?

Any other brides in an LDR have to go to odd lengths to keep your partner in the loop?

i have such respect and admiration for you, handling wedding plans while mr. m is overseas. i’m such a needy, codependent baby, and i know i wouldn’t act with nearly the grace and attitude that you have. mr. m is so lucky to have a supportive and positive partner! can’t wait for you guys to be reunited!

Just got a phone call from my Marine that he passed out the Save the Dates that I sent him to his other friends. I made 4 different versions of post cards. Apparently, they all got a kick out of getting them while overseas!

That is the sweetest thing I have heard! I know how your FI feels. For the first almost year of planning, FI and I have been living apart! He felt left out at first and I did little things like this to make him feel included too! I know your FI appreciates it!

I love this idea, it’s so sweet! I’m definitely sending Mr. P an invitation first too!

Haha! I did most of our planning while DH was out of state, so I can totally relate! We are in an LDR every March-September, so I did most of our planning by myself. Luckily I got to time the STD’s and invites to where he was home to help ;-)
