Mrs. Crepe's Picture
Mrs. Crepe, Queens, NY/Nashville, TN Age and Occupation: 28, Jewelry Designer Fiance's Age and Occupation: 28, Animation Director Engagement Date: September 28, 2010 Wedding Date: May 2011 Venue: A church in downtown Nashville About Me: I'm a native New Yorker who has always been a DIY kind of girl and loves tackling creative projects while getting the most out of a dollar. I'm marrying my college sweetheart and we love frequenting antique stores, exploring together, and playing with kittens. We're planning a fun, "us" wedding in his hometown---with as many handmade touches as we can pack into a day!
About Mrs. Crepe

All of this grown up business of “budgeting” and SAVING because suddenly I am a grown up married lady is a real party pooper, so says my closet. In the meantime, I have found that nail polish is an easy way to satisfy the need to shop for new wearables.

A Quick Note From Your Friendly Neighborhood Mrs. Crepe : wedding beauty nashville 5881003 sparkle base

Base Colo is Brucci in Outrageous Orange. Topped with Art Club’s Gold Glitter.

In more news, I have been informed (more sarcastically than I would have liked) that I may have to start downsizing my clothing collection. Which is fine because I apparently only wear about 20% of it anyway. Still, though. What do you mean you need closet space?? What do you mean??

What were some of the big (and small) realizations you came to once the planning was over and you were newly married?

You should get some of that sally hansen “crackle” overcoat polish, since it seems like you don’t mind going against the grain! :]

Closet space as well!!!
And pretty much everything that is about space… bed space, space for shoes, books, bathroom products and so on…
Also, as you also say… budgeting! not funny…

Love the nails!

I hope your budgeting involves getting a new house/apartment for you to decorate!

Your fingers look so pretty with that polish! I love the way it’s concentrated at your cuticles…I may have to play at my local salon :)

DH and I already lived together for several years, but we agreed not to combine bank accounts until after the wedding.

For us, I think that’s the biggest change- suddenly it’s “our” money that we’re spending, rather than “his” and “my” money.

No longer can I buy something from Anthro on a whim without him knowing, and then fudge how much I spent on it when he asks where it came from!

I’m sort of hoping that it will spark some of my creativity again, though…. I was so much more creative when I was poor!

Not so much getting married as buying a house has started to really change things. We just moved from a 2br apt to a 4br house. You’d think we would have enough closet space, but for some reason the house is amplifying how much clothing I have been hoarding. I don’t really know how we were living together for 6+ years and only now he is truly seeing the full extent of my shoe collection….

Ohhhhhh I love that nail polish. We’re not married yet, but I’ve been told that, apparently, I leave too many cups around the house and I really need to use the same cup whether I’m drinking water in the bedroom, living room (at one end of the couch or the other), kitchen and office. Pssh.

Awesome nail polish! I love the little gold flecks! And I’m totally not looking forward to sharing closet space after marriage. :/

Ohhhh polish. Love it. Did you just brush it along your cuticles, rather than all over? So cool looking!

We have been dating for 10 years but have only been living together for the last year (since the engagement) and how he didn’t know that I had 40+ pairs of shoes and enough clothes to fill a walk-in closet not counting summer clothes I have no idea but now it seems to be a bit much. That and the fact that I leave the drawer in the bathroom open and he runs into it all the time… :-D

Not married yet, but we just moved in together, so I’ve been on HIM about not leaving shoes all over the house, socks on the floor, making the bed, and unloading the dishwasher when it’s done (vs letting it sit on “clean” for three days while the sink gets full of dishes when I’m on a work trip for a week!).

And of course, he’s on me for still only making dinner for one person (what do you mean you want input on what we eat for dinner??), and treating him like a “roommate” vs “boyfriend”. I think I wasn’t supposed to get miffed when he drank “my” milk. Oy!

SPACE!!!! I’m starting to feel the space crunch with 11 months to go before my wedding. The FI bought a house 3 years ago, and never really unpacked/organized about half of its contents. The goal between now and the wedding when I officially move in is to really go through everything…but its hard for the FI to go from the house being ‘his’ space to ‘our’ space. Right now he has all the closet space - that’s going to be a big change!

We just got married, and we will soon be combining our finances. That’s a HUGE plunge for me! We’ve been living together for 6 years already, so that’s not new, but we always kept our separate accounts.

It will be a change to know that he’ll see every little thing I splurge on. :P He’s much more frugal than I am, so I think this will ultimately be good for us, but it will definitely be an adjustment.
