The Missing Links!

July 5th, 2011 @ 3:28 pm by Mrs. Macarons

Macs has always been a french cuff kind of guy. It was one of the few stipulations he had about his attire. Macs owns several pairs of cufflinks already, but I wanted to get him something special just for the wedding. Since his boutonnière turned out amazing, I thought a matching pair of cufflinks would be perfect.

But the blog post in which I saw them was dated back in 2009 and the store they linked to no longer had them. I was so bummed, I looked through pages upon pages of search results before finally finding them in stock in a store in the UK.

I quickly placed my order with them, and according to their site I should have them within 7-10 business days. Well, ten days passed and then another ten. The cufflinks went MIA and the tracking perpetually said ‘processing’. I contacted customer service and they said I had to wait another 5 business days before reporting them lost.

At 12AM on the 25 day I fired off another email asking if they could send another pair. They told me I was in luck that they had one more pair in stock. Thirteen business days later, they showed up.

I was so excited and had planned on saving them for the day of the wedding but after the whole ordeal I couldn’t wait. They ended up being an early birthday present to Mr. Macs with the condition that he wouldn’t wear them till the wedding. He agreed, but then three weeks later as we were getting ready to go out I saw him reach for the box. I asked him what he was doing and he looked down at me with big puppy eyes and said “But we’re just going out to dinner!” I couldn’t say no, so I affirmed only tonight.

When we got back home he took off the cufflinks and placed them in the palm of my hand. When I looked down I let out a huge sigh followed by the kind of “Honey!” you say when someone’s about to go into the doghouse:

A star had fallen out! I checked our apartment, the car and his pockets. I couldn’t find it anywhere. I was so angry I cried, and Macs couldn’t understand why. “Just order another pair from the same place,” he nonchalantly said. “When I told you they were hard to find I meant it! So much for wearing them at our wedding!” I yelled. Macs thought I was overreacting, but after ten minutes of searching he couldn’t find them either. We make it a point to never go to bed angry but that night I couldn’t help it. I was mad at myself for showing them to him, given the whole ordeal and especially since I knew he’d want to wear them.

Several weeks passed and I eventually got over it. I had plenty of time to find another pair of cuff links, but I knew they wouldn’t be as cool as those. Then one day while checking the mail there was a pathetic excuse for a package in our box. It was crumpled and water stained, and the tape sealing it shut had started to peel up. Almost 4 months later the first pair of cuff links finally arrived. I was so stinkin’ happy! I told Mr. Mac the exciting news and this time he agreed he’d save them for the wedding. Who knew something so small could cause so much grief.

Did you have any online order issues that made you go postal?

Hehehe, THESE ARE AMAZING. My bro was sitting next to me when I opened up to the ‘bee and was actually interested in something on a wedding site the first time ever…his quote, “WHOOOOA! ARE THOSE CUFFLINKS?! AWESOME!” They are, indeed, totally awesome.

Try and remember to bring crazy glue on your wedding day! We were at a wedding recently and not one but BOTH of his Lego cufflinks became disengaged from their backings because of the humidity. A quick trip home for some glue made for a fast save. We were lucky we were close enough to run home, and super lucky it wasn’t our wedding day!!

Oh no! I’m so glad that the final shipment did in fact arrive.

I had an online ordering issue with my bridesmaid jewelry but it was due to the company not being completely honest from the very beginning so I asked for a refund. You win some, you lose some.

I would have been livid if I were you and then absolutely relieved when the new pair came. These are awesome looking and Macs should cherish them!

That’s so awesome (well in a way) that the first pair finally showed up! Very cool cufflinks, Mr. E would approve.

I’m glad to hear it all worked out! But seriously can’t believe the first box took 4 months to get to you. Where exactly did it go??

Yay for happy endings! My order from a candle company is still ‘processing’ three months later. I called and told their voice mail to just cancel it.

I kind of like the gold star - you could try to get the star out of it’s match and then he has two pairs - one with gold and one with white…

This is one of the best stories I’ve ever heard! I cried, laughed and fell in love with you two (but not in the creepy way - I promise)

my dress which I ordered online, Im the MOB, and a brown gown arrived, but after checking I noticed the jacket was wrong, then the beading, then the dress! ugh, I emailed and cryed, they said they would send me another the right one, a few days went by (just a few) and I got another package arrived, UGH the dress was RED! nothing like I ordered, again I contacted seller, I later found out it was someone elses dress, I mailed it out right away to the person in the UK.
I just got an email today saying the dress is in transit. hopefully the right one. fingers crossed.
