Mrs. Ladyfingers's Picture
Mrs. Ladyfingers, Saint Petersburg, FL Age and Occupation: 30, Marketing Manager Fiance's Age and Occupation: 33, Sports Writer Engagement Date: December 24, 2010 Wedding Date: November 2011 Venue: Palma Sola Botanical Park About Me: I hail from Oklahoma, he was born and raised in Long Island. Fate brought us together, and now we live in a cute little rental house with our nutty dog, and our aloof cat. We both love to read, watch movies, explore our town, and laugh like hyenas. When I’m not obsessively wedding crafting, I enjoy stalking style and decorating blogs, making collages and painting, napping, thrifting, rearranging our bookshelves, and being a total weirdo with my friends. Hi!
About Mrs. Ladyfingers

I have a little bit of a problem with office supplies. When I was eight, I made my dad a “desk set” out of the top of a shoebox and a toilet-paper roll covered in plaid ribbon (a penholder, get it?). My heart skips a beat when our office manager tells me to look through the Staples catalog and order whatever I want. I often have the urge to buy lots and lots of pretty paper for no purpose other than to have it around. I have boxes of unused notecards just because I’m afraid of running out and never being able to use any again.

Therefore, this whole wedding-planning thing has been a dream. I can buy a $12 ream of hot pink paper to line my envelopes? Count me in. Calligraphy pen? Check! Card stock in every color of the rainbow? Yes, ma’am!

My “to buy” list seems to grow every day, but I don’t mind because it’s all pretty stuff. Mr. Ladyfingers might mind…but I don’t care a whit. The more office supplies, the better! But by far, the most fun office supply is paper.

Every good wedding deserves a suite of cuter-than-cute stationery, right? Our amazingly talented, generous, sweet graphic-artist friend designed our invitations for us, so that was out of the way relievingly early. (Stay tuned for reveals on that as I put some final DIY touches on the package!) But what about thank you notes, escort cards, programs, signage, and various additional paper ephemera and knick-knackery?

First, there’s the good old save the date. We didn’t do them, but you’ll see a common theme throughout this post: Stuff we committed to not doing, which research for this post REALLY made me want to do. Bad.

My friend recently got married, and one of her aunts threw her a lingerie shower. I love the idea of doing a separate party where you just get naughties instead of casseroles and mixing bowls. Mostly I just want pretty naughties but don’t want to have to buy them for myself.

Apparently we’re not doing programs, either. And I say “apparently” because the side of me that keeps browsing Etsy and reading wedding blogs is resentful of the side of me that has firmly decided programs are a waste of my time and money. “You still have four months to change your mind, stupid money-time-saving scrooge-lady.”

Then, of course, once you get all those cool presents (just kidding—I would never expect presents at my wedding [but I’m really looking forward to them (but really, it’s OK if we don’t get any)]), you must thank those who gave. Each one of SilhouetteBlue’s customized stationery pieces is more adorable than the next, but this is by far my favorite. Barring some even more awesome find between now and August-ish (unlikely), I’ll be ordering up these babies prettyyyy soon.

Changing your name? You’ll certainly need a new batch of calling cards. Because the old ones just will not do.

And finally, one year later:

Do you drool over paper like me? Do you spent hours trolling the Etsy “paper goods” sections trying to talk yourself into doing things you already decided you wouldn’t do? Be honest—did you end up doing programs, guestbooks, cute favor tags, or any other number of things you originally weren’t going to do, just because you saw a pretty picture? I won’t judge.

Office Supplies= my family
I once casually mentioned to my mom and sister that I was down to one roll of scotch tape and they actually gasped out loud. Our family does not run out of office supplies.

I’m also an office-supply-phile - and thankfully, so is Mr. PP, so thus far he hasn’t had any adverse reactions to my stockpiling of “good” scissors, pretty new pens, and fantabulous paper (I’m also working on convincing him that ribbons = office supplies so he will similarly bless my upcoming purchase of something like 100 yards of the gorgeous stuff - any ideas?!) I would say I didn’t so much CHANGE my plans to add in fun paper products as I actually MADE a lot of my plans with the goal of getting to use pretty paper :) Thanks for all the references - I have to go check those out, and maybe then I WILL have to add more things!

Just wanted to let you know that I got the tandem cards in orange for my shower thank you notes and they. are. gorgeous. Nice paper, pretty envelopes, and the seller was super prompt and easy to work with. Obviously cuteness trumps all else in the ‘which thank you cards to order’ debate, but I wanted to give these ones a shout out!

So many pretties! I love fancy paper and things, but then I never want to use them because they are so nice and fancy, but a wedding is such a good excuse to buy and use such pretty paper :)

Amg, so much paper porn. The typography on that wedding program is so lovely, and now I *need* (hehe) those Mr. & Mrs. notecards!
