Just a warning…there are a lot of photos of me in this post. If you don’t want to look at my mug, move along. My feelings won’t be hurt. OK…maybe a little.
As soon as I was dressed, our photographers got started with bridal portraits. Now, I’m not one who has ever been camera shy, but with two photographers, a videographer, plus the bridal party looking on, it felt a little weird. I did my best to channel my inner Tyra and pretend like it was just me and the camera. Who says you can’t learn anything from reality television?! We first took photos in the hotel suite.
We then headed down to the hotel lobby for some additional photos with a different background. Our photographers snapped this photo quickly as we rode the elevator down.
We hit the hotel stairs and took more portraits. I have to say, our photographers were awesome at giving direction. They told me exactly where to look, when to smile, when not to, when to put my hand on my hip, when to push my hip to the side, when to hold my bouquet, when to put it down. Even though sometimes I felt completely awkward, I just went with it, and I’m so glad I did.
I was then joined on the stairs by my mom and sister, followed by the bridesmaids and the bridesmaids and house party. We did some serious and silly shots.
One thing I regret is that I didn’t get an individual photo with each of my attendants. I’m not really that traditional, and formal shots aren’t all that exciting to me, so I didn’t put a lot of thought into them…not to mention that as many times as I’ve been a bridesmaid, I’ve always had one of these photos taken with the bride, but I’d never ended using it… or come to think of it, even seeing one of them. I didn’t really see the point. We were also a few minutes behind schedule (seriously, it was maybe five minutes), so I kinda rushed through these group shots. In retrospect, it would have been nice to have these individual pictures with the ladies. Now that I don’t have them, I’ve been thinking of all the ways I would have used them (framed pictures given to each of the ladies as an extra thank you… dammit! Why didn’t I take those pictures?!?).
We did a quick change of location and took a few more bridal portraits and a couple more photos with my bridesmaids.
It wasn’t until we were about two-thirds of the way through the second set of photos that I realized that I had completely forgotten to put on my veil and rhinestone hair pins. How does that happen?!
Anyone else out there forget a part of your bridal ensemble? Please tell me I’m not the only one.
