About Mrs. Zebra

Alright, let’s do this, friends. Without doubt, my favorite part of the morning of our wedding was slipping on that beautifully constructed garment, my dress, Adeline.

We were running early, score! While some were grabbing a little lunch or organizing accessories, I was busy flitting around the house making sure everyone was comfortable and ready. Errrr, maybe I was trying to preoccupy myself to make the time go by faster. I could not wait for our photographer to get there so I could finish becoming the bride I had waited so desperately long for.

After what felt like hours, hours I tell ya, Sara Zarrella had arrived and I eagerly greeted her from my parents’ front window.

Why, what’s that hanging in the window?

I spy with my little eye… Adeline!

She hung gracefully from the window of the bedroom I kicked my brother out of when I was a teenager. That bedroom was the site of so many teenage make-out sessions kisses with my almost-husband. A quick nine years later, and I was preparing for our wedding in that same sunny room.

I, of course, had many doubts about whether or not I chose the right dress. The wedding industry puts so much pressure on women to pick “the one.” She may not have been the absolute “one” but I certainly loved my dress like no other.

Have you learned to love your dress despite knowing you could have chosen another?

I love my dress so much but I just saw in a magazine nearly the same dress with the sweatheart neckline that I wish mine had. Boo.

Love the pics of your dress hanging in the window. I wanted pics of my dress like that, but it wasn’t possible where we got ready.

And yes, I had to learn to love my dress, but the more time goes by, the more I love my dress.

I loved my wedding dress, but I too never felt that it was “the one.” I don’t think I was really looking for the One — I just wanted something pretty and I didn’t want to spend a lot of time/money/energy worrying about it. :)

@Season: I had my seamstress alter my neckline for a deeper sweetheart.

@stephbonthego: Haha true story. There’s something to be said for being happy with what you’ve got.

@miss.qwerty: It would have been a little tight with all 250 guests in there. :0)

What a cheerful room filled with fond memories to get ready in! With my gown, I didn’t know what I was looking for but confidently knew I’d found it once I laid eyes on her.
