About Mrs. Funnel Cake

The two months we had before our Zivilstand in 2010 slipped by quickly. I flew to Ohio for the weekend for my brother’s wedding in July, showed off my beloved ring, and then it was back to Switzerland to prepare for our own upcoming “thing” (as I liked to call it).

Around the time of the one month countdown, I casually asked Mr. Funnel Cake what he was going to wear. “A suit, of course.” Oh. A suit… That sounds fancy. Did that mean I should wear a dress?

With my hectic schedule at work and my three-hour commute, I didn’t have much time to go shopping during the week.

Stores in Switzerland close around 7-8PM during the week and are closed all of Sunday as well. So one fine Saturday on a high from wedding dress shopping, I popped into a Mango and tried on a few dresses.

This was not something I had time to “hem” and “haw” about. I found a dress that fit that I’d be able to wear to work later so I bought it. Afterward I also purchased two pairs of matching earrings to choose from. (I’m a fan of giving myself earring choices.)

I ended up choosing the more retro looking earrings because Mr. FC liked them better. Dress, earrings, and shoes—I was set.

Tada.

But what happened when August 17th rolled around? Flipping cold weather, that’s what.

Mr. Funnel Cake begged me not to wear my thigh high socks with my dress, so I settled for black nylons, A little black cardigan and my winter jacket. YEAH, my winter jacket, in August. Hmmph.

All cleaned up (and bundled up), it was time to head to the Verwaltungszentrum Werd in Zürich!

August 17th is a great day!!!! That is when I got married :) Which day will you consider your wedding day… the August or October date? By the way, you look amazing in your dress!

@Miss Pony: haha I totally would have! ;-)

@JBCranberry: we are planning to consider the October date the “real date” but it’s so tricky. It’s easier for counting purposes to use 2010 and legal date. I’m sure both dates will always be special!

@Miss Cucumber Sandwich: Haha, nice catch Ms CS. Since I didn’t wear the white earrings at the Zivilstand, I gave them some love during our engagement shoot. :)

That dress looks great on you! It sucks that you had to wear a coat outside, but at least you looked great!
