Lucky Charms

July 8th, 2011 @ 12:54 pm by Mrs. Macarons

I’m not exactly the superstitious type, but when it comes to the wedding I want nothing but good juju coming our way.

I started collecting my “somethings” early on, the first of which was a silver sixpence. I originally wanted to get one of the year my parents married, but as Mrs. Husky pointed out, after 1947 they no longer contained silver. Instead I opted for 1946, the year my grandparents married.

I knew my old would be my handkerchief bonnet, but I was stumped when it came to my borrowed and blue. Enter Mom to the rescue with the greatest borrowed ever.

Look familiar? My grandfather gave them to my grandmother on their wedding day, almost 65 years ago. I can’t tell you how excited I am to wear such a precious heirloom.

Are you taking part in the something tradition? What’s your favorite something?

My something old and something borrowed are the same thing. The pearl necklace that belonged to my grandmother who gave it to my mother on her wedding day. I consider my “new” to be everything else…dress, shoes, wedding band. My “blue” are my wedding undies. They’re white and I had my new married name embroidered on them in blue thread :-)

Hi - I’m sorry to bother you - but I am new to this, and I can’t figure out how to post something on the blog - I can post to the message boards but not the blog - can you help me? Thank you so much!

My something borrowed are the earrings one of my BMs wore in her wedding and a ring that was my grandmothers which will be tied to my bouquet. The ring will be my something old as well. New is the obvious dress, shoes, etc… Haven’t figured out blue yet. Possibly my garter or undies.

Awwe, I’m loving your somethings! Those pearls, gorgeous enough on their own, are even more stunning given their history ;)

I love your somethings! I’m trying to incorporate my new family in my things. I think my something borrowed and blue will come from one of my new sisters. And something new will propbably be from my FMIL. Sharing those sentiments will be a special bonding moment for us, at least I hope.
