Mrs. Cucumber Sandwich's Picture
Mrs. Cucumber Sandwich, Washington, DC/Cape May, NJ Age and Occupation: 28, School Counselor Fiance's Age and Occupation: 40, Collegiate Athletics Engagement Date: March 27, 2010 Wedding Date: October 2011 Venue: Congress Hall Hotel About Me: I am a school counselor who spends my day wrangling children and my nights attempting to be creative with wedding projects. My enthusiasm for each of these activities far surpasses my skill. Thank goodness Mr. Cucumber Sandwich is there to pick up the pieces and be the voice of reason about my DIY tries. I have an obsession with terrible romantic comedies (‘From Justin to Kelly’ anyone?, anyone?!?), competitive Scrabble play, and hot dogs. I could eat astronaut ice cream for every meal and can’t seem to resist buying more shoes. Our wedding is going to be a true hodge podge of semi-destination, tradition, Yuengling, New England charm, with just a dash of ‘Jersey Shore’ thrown in. It has been six years in the making and I can’t wait to marry my best friend.
About Mrs. Cucumber Sandwich

Now or Never

July 8th, 2011 @ 9:16 am by Mrs. Cucumber Sandwich

The quest for the dress is almost finished! Thanks for hanging in there. Trust me, this has been exhausting for me too. Unfortunately your patience will not be rewarded.

Now or Never : wedding cape may wedding dress Disclai01 disclai01

I make Mr. LP read every blog post. Sometimes I even quiz him on it just to make sure he memorized every word. Unfortunately, that means I will not be showing my dress. Not even the designer/style number. See, Mr. LP likes to say that I am nosy, but really I learned it from him.

Since there are no pictures of the dress or any description, we are going to breeze through this part real quick. After Running of the Brides, we took some time off of the dress search to regroup. In my mind, the dress at La Bella Moda was always the one to beat, but Mama CS required some warming up to it. Finally, one day as if she had an epiphany she said to me, “You know, I really like that one dress you tried on.” Hallelujah. So appointments were made for when I came home for Thanksgiving.

We also made an appointment at a bridal store in Philadelphia. I can’t even remember the name of the second store that we had an appointment at, and that is OK because it wasn’t that great. The store is filled with sample gowns at a discounted price, and the woman who owns it is supposed to be like the dress whisperer. Apparently she can find anyone their perfect dress. Obviously that is false advertising because she didn’t find mine.

I know I said we were going to breeze through this, and three paragraphs later I have clearly lied. Basically we went back to La Bella Moda. The dress was fabulous. We went back two days later to get the seal of approval from Papa CS. Dress purchase. Bing, bang, boom!

V for victory!

This post sucked in the picture department, so to reward you for sticking with it…

You’re welcome!

Anyone have a relatively easy dress search? How did you know it was the “one”?

**WAIT…I forgot the best part. I fit into the sample they had in the store, so I was able to purchase the floor sample for a discounted price of almost $400 off!! I rule at wedding-dress shopping.***

So happy to hear your happy story - I know it can be difficult for some brides to find their dream dress! Love the pup picture - thank you at least for some eye candy in this post…though no pictures of the dress is making me want to see it that much more!

awwwww, such a cute puppy!!!!!
My FI LOVES boxers! and rotties. In fact, my soon-to-be stepson has a boxer/rottie mix and SHE IS ADORABLE!!! and very…bouncy. Last time I saw her, I had to catch her paws to keep her from getting my dress dirty! LOL!
Also, love the fact you make your FI read the posts! (My FI, could kinda care less, lol)

“V for Victory!” That’s not a Sailor Moon/Sailor V reference was it? LOL! Congrats at finding your dress so easily!

Hahah I love your puppy! Too cute!

Congrats on finding your dress, but now I want to see it!! FI accidentally saw the back on my dress when he was flipping through photos on my camera… I had forgotten to delete the photos we took when we were in the bridal shop. Durrrrr. He was more upset about it then I was! Oh welllllll, the sample was HUGE on me so I’m sure it will look different when the real deal comes in. :)

My dress shopping was surprisingly easy. We only went to two stores and one day and done. But I’m dying to see your dress. I guess we’ll have to wait until your actual wedding day. Sigh.
