Happy tears from our emotional first look soon dissolved into peals of laughter when the rest of our wedding party joined us on the meticulously groomed grounds at the Royal Park. To quote Carrie Bradshaw, “they say nothing lasts forever; dreams change, trends come and go, but friendships never go out of style.” These incredible people are a handful of those who make our brightest days brighter, always have our backs, and whom we love unconditionally.

Our relationships with friends and family defined our wedding celebration, and we couldn’t help but get caught up in the gaiety of having so many of our nearest and dearest together.
Prior to beginning my graduate studies at the University of Michigan, I always felt a little lost in the sea of forging meaningful relationships. These three women are an integral part of who I’ve grown into over the last few years, and by example have shown me how to cultivate what I hope are lifelong friendships with them and others.

Not to mention they know how to throw some pretty fabulous parties!
Our lives have also been enriched by our friends’ children, whose wonder at the world around them have in turn refreshed our perspectives on life.
We were truly in good company.
Our merriment was abruptly cut short, though, when ominous grey clouds that had been fast approaching since our first look began to open up. A strong gust of wind hit and tore at my veil, causing me to tilt precariously and flail my arms in an effort to stay upright.
As the raindrops started to fall and the girls retreated to safety indoors, the guys managed to sneak in a couple of photos before escaping the sudden storm.
Despite the weather compelling us indoors, one of the many beautiful features of the Royal Park is that you’ll be hard pressed to find a bad location to take a photo, whether you’re standing and watching the rain fall outside…
…or simply resting your feet for a while.
And, in impeccable “making lemonade from lemons” form, Aruna took this opportunity to arrange one of our “must have” shots with the wedding party:
The tempest passed nearly as quickly as it had begun, so after we finished channeling our inner vogue everyone headed back outside for a little more fun…

…and of course, a little more romance:

The hour we spent with our wedding party went by in the blink of an eye, and prior to the two of us sneaking inside to take a peek at our venue one last snapshot was captured:
Inside awaited glorious details, warm welcomes, and a pair so darling that I’m at a loss for words:
The clock read a quarter past five, and it was time to retreat and refresh. Up next: the traffic gods decide to toy with our ceremony!
