Mrs. High Wire, Dallas Age and Occupation: 23, Legal Assistant Fiance's Age and Occupation: 25, Director of Communications Engagement Date: October 9, 2010 Wedding Date: September 2011 Venue: Clark Gardens About Me: My loves include yoga, anything spicy, our eccentric cat, our rambunctious dog, and Mr. High Wire, of course! Like the steadiness act of the tightrope walker, this gal is busy balancing life while planning a wedding to the man of her dreams. We’re hosting a laid-back, vintage-inspired, bird themed wedding with heavy doses of love, good eats (did someone say tacos and margaritas?), and endless Texas charm. Mr. High Wire and I are so happy to have you along for the walk across the tight rope.
About Mrs. High Wire

My FMIL and I worked on our guest list this weekend and boy howdy (yes, Boy. Howdy.) we have a lot of people on our list. A fair amount of them are acquaintances, distant elderly family, and friends who probably won’t be able to attend, but we wanted to make them feel included in the celebrations anyway.

I’m estimating that our ultimate attendance will be somewhere in the 150 arena. But, we are inviting around 400 people. This won’t blow up in our face right?!

So, what if every single person we invite winds up attending? Our reception tent has a maximum capacity of 400, and our venue and caterer both allow for increases to the original contract. We’ll have to pay more, obviously, but we’ll be able to accommodate all of those people, if we need to.

Speaking of inviting people, our amazing graphic designer finished our invites and we ordered them today. Care to take a peek?

Oh, I just love them. I’d marry these invites if I could.

My favorite part has to be the little tiny bird feet that are grabbing that branch:

Here are our back-of-the-invite directions that I talked about here

And our RSVP

How many people are you inviting to your wedding? Anyone else send out a lot of invitations but expect a smaller guest list to actually attend?

Glad to hear someone else is in the same position we are! We’re inviting about the same and hoping for around 200. It’s terrible to secretly hope people you love won’t come to your wedding!

Wow! That’s a lot of guests - but as long as you’ve got a back up plan in case you get MORE than you’d anticipated, I think you’ll be ok. The price difference will be pretty massive!

Your invitations are GORGEOUS. Love the birdies!

We invited 386 and had 189 attend. That said, we planned our budget and site to fit as many as 275 so that we could still feel happy when the “will attend” rsvps arrived!

I dont know if I would risk it. My sister invited 125 and 120 came! I am inviting 135 and hoping 100 come but I doubt I will even get that lucky!

I sent 278, expected 220, received 194. A good amount, I think.

I’m sending around 350 (kids included), expect around 100. Only about 10% of invitees are within a couple hrs driving distance. Reception can accomodate up to 200 but church is busting at seams with 100.

Very pretty invites! We invited about 210? About? And ended up with 160. We were hoping for about 150, so we weren’t too far off. :)

A lady after my own heart. We are inviting 317…and that was after we paired it down some. I’m hoping we get something closer to 210 that will be able to make it. Many of them are out the country and state. Some of them I’ve never even met, but my parents insisted on inviting them. Our venue holds 350 in both of it’s indoor spaces seperately, so we will be good on space. The more the merrier and hope that it all works out. :)

We invited 149 expecting 100 and had 101. Some of the 48 we knew could not attend (out of state elderly, etc.). Others had previous obligations. We knew the general 20% no rule, added our must invites no matter whats and guessed!

Wow. That’s a big number difference.

Right now our list is 260 and I’m hoping for 200. Now I’m thinking maybe I could invite the 30 people that have already been cut.

My good friend invited 280 and got 195. I guess you never know. 400 seems scary to me

You could be one of those very popular people who everyone wants to see get hitched.

Btw, your invitation are gorgeous. will be be keeping with the birdy theme?

i say don’t invite all the people unless you are prepared to host them all. a few months ago, i had a panic attack when i looked at the guest list for my brother. my mom gave him a list for our side of the family and she had 598 on the list. their wedding is this weekend, my brother is having over 500 guests 50 of which are from his fiancee’s side.

i looked at venues that would fit 500-700 guests and nothing was cute and everywhere we went charge around $100 per person. I couldn’t stomach a $70-100k wedding so I decided to do a semi-destination wedding in las vegas for 200.

Your RSVP is ah-maze-ing. Seriously.
Long before I even met my man, my mom and I have fought about the size of my wedding. (yes, I know it’s not healthy to fight about theoretical weddings.) She thinks everyone we know deserves to be invited… and I disagree. We shall see.

Love the birds on your invites, so cute! But OMG on the 400 guests, hopefully you’ll have plenty of cancellations so you’ll be around the number you are hoping for!

With that kind of list you will probably, probablty have 200-250 people. 50-65% usually attend.

We invited 210 and ended up with 125… the woman at our reception hall said that due to the economy, our turnout is typical. People can no longer afford to go to weddings (especially NY weddings). It’s sad.
