My type-A Virgo tendencies often cause me to drive my laid-back college sweetheart fiance batty with lists and PowerPoint presentations. I love to be crafty and do things myself, which explains why my two crazy kittens often will prance around the house covered in glitter and ribbons. When I am not bogged down with work, school, or wedding planning, I like to travel to visit my expansive family and have wild adventures with my best friends. After a rollercoaster ride of a love story, I’m ready to take that final plunge, marry the love of my life, and become a Mrs.!

Keeping the Girls in the Loop

July 12th, 2011 @ 4:38 pm by Miss Doily

Since I am the one who is far away from my bridesmaids, I wanted a quick and easy way to let them know things that are going on. I talk to all of my girls regularly, but I make it a point to not really talk about wedding stuff when we are on the phone. I want our conversations to be about catching up and not all about the details of my upcoming nuptials, especially because out of all of my bridesmaids, only my sister-in-law (obviously) is married, so I know it’s something they don’t want to hear about all the time. After scouring online for ideas, I found many other brides in the same position who developed newsletters. Aha! Perfect!

I was an editor of my college and high school papers, so I know a thing or two about laying out a design. I borrowed a name that I saw on many of the newsletters (and it’s impossible to credit it to someone because I have absolutely no idea who started it), found some patterns and clip art that matched my colors, and voila:

The “Aisle File” was born. The one above was one of the first I sent out, shortly after the BMs had picked out their dresses. Basically in each one I give a brief rundown of what’s going on planning-wise, whether any dates have been set (such as showers, the bachelorette party, yada yada), and anything else they might need to know. MOH A has been really good about keeping the girls updated, but I also want to do my part in ensuring this happens. I just send this baby out once a month to the girls on Facebook, and I can then be sure that they have all of the information they need without bugging them during our phone conversations or text-a-thons.

What things do you do to keep up with your bridesmaids and all of the information floating around?

Very cute! I lived far away from my bridesmaids too, and it’s great that you’re able to keep them in the loop like this!

as your editor-twin :) i LOVE that idea, so genius! until now I’ve been relying on very VERY VERY long emails (I’m chatty, in case no one knew that yet!) to tell them everything, but that gets annoying because there’s not an easy way to put them all in one place and cross reference so I know if I’ve told them something or not - your newsletter is a MUCH better format, I might have to start thinking about doing that!

OMGosh I LOVE this!!! I’m totally gonna start doing it =). I’ve been posting stuff on fb but I bet it gets annoying after a while and sometimes people miss things, etc. I can’t explain how excited this makes me!

I definitely looked at this and immediately re-did the newsletter I had begun for our wedding party. Thanks to you, ours now looks a million times better! I really love your layout.
