And what they’ll be wearing for the occasion.

In my head, I wanted Mac and the rest of the groomsmen to stand out. Not only are black suits too harsh for the soft and romantic look we’re trying to achieve, but I’m fairly certain it’s what more than a few of our male guests will opt to wear. (We don’t know many brown or navy blue suit kinda people.) A gray suit or tux was the clear winner. What’s not to love?

Originally we thought our groomsmen would just wear their own gray suits, but surprisingly only one of them had one and it no longer fit! Some Bees and members of the hive mentioned that Jos A. Banks has some killer sales, but we didn’t want to burden the men with tracking down and purchasing matching suits. Renting was the way to go, especially since the guys are spread out around the country.

It actually ended up being quite reasonable for the groomsmen since we’re buying their shirts and ties. We had to put down a deposit for Macs rental, but we’ll get a refund after all the guys get fitted for theirs.

Macs will wear a white shirt with a lavender tie.

The groomsmen will wear lavender shirts and I’m still on the hunt for coordinating patterned or striped ties.

check target! they have AWESOME purple/lavender colored ties in so many different patterns! we actually found ours there! the guys will look awesome, mac.

Oh man, those are two of my wedding colors. I’m not kidding, my FI did such a great job choosing their ties and shirts. He got so many compliments. The guys also got gray vests. Smashing!

@peachplum09: You can’t rent suits, but the Calvin Klein gray tux does look a lot like a suit. In fact Men’s Warehouse had a suit for sale that was almost identical except for the buttons and the lapel.

I love the purple color–it is our primary color too! We went the Jos A Bank route, though–and it averaged to $25 more per groomsman/usher for their tux vs. the rental option. We allowed all of them the choice of using a basic clack tux that they already own, buying it through a killer sale at Jos A Bank or doing the rental–we picked similar enough style tux that they should all blend. Out of the 5 GM/ushers: 1 already owned, 3 bought, and 1 is renting.

OMG Express has like THE.MOST.AMAZING.TIES!!! So you should definitely look into it. With the coupons they have (i.e. $25 off of $75), you can probably have them get nice ties for a good price. We’re going for a romantic feel too, but our groomsmen are going with black suit vests (no jackets in the outdoor July SC wedding). But my FI will be wearing a very light gray! And I LOVE it!

It’s still a daily struggle to get the Mr. to finalize what the men will be wearing. But I wish wish wish they were wearing the gray suit you showed. But alas, they are going for black tuxes. And figuring out the vest/tie situation is a whole other thing. But, Macy’s is my go-to place for ties. I love the patterns. They have endless patterns in purple right now if you’re looking to coordinate.
