Today’s Real Wedding features a rustic barn and lots of personal touches!

The Story

Our theme was rustic elegance.

We created all the centerpieces ourselves, including digging through antique stores and garage sales for vintage Mason jars (hit the gold mine when we found 20 blue Mason jars in a friend’s barn in Arizona).

We grew and dried all the lavender that filled the jars and decorated the venue.

We additionally made dried flower wreaths for the doorways and moss initials for the wedding arch.

I loved that my stepdad brought his vintage red truck—it was a great photo backdrop.

And the cake was a highlight—I loved our custom owl wedding-cake toppers.

Do you have any advice for future brides?

Don’t sweat the small stuff. Your wedding is NO reflection on how your marriage is going to be; you are not doomed if it rains, if you get roses instead of orchids, if you tear your veil. It’s not important. You get to marry the love of your life and the wedding is a day to celebrate that with your closest friends and family. Best advice I got was to pick three things that are important to me on that day and not stress about the other stuff. I wanted a great dinner, my closest family, and an outdoor rustic setting. The rest just feel into place. Oh, and one last bit of advice…accept help when offered. You don’t have to be Superwoman and plan it all and do it all yourself. People like to help and want to help, so let them.
