Mrs. Hippo's Picture
Mrs. Hippo, New York City/Dallas, TX Age and Occupation: 34, Event Planner for a Non-Profit Fiance's Age and Occupation: 35, Finance IT Engagement Date: August 8, 2009 Wedding Date: March 2011 Venue: Samuel Lynne Galleries and Marc Events About Me: I’m a thirty-something bride living in New York City and planning a modern-ish wedding in Dallas, Texas. I love trashy reality television (Jersey Shore, anyone?), online shopping, Sunday brunch, Central Park, and random celebrity spottings on the streets of Manhattan. While I love NYC, I miss good Tex-Mex, my college friends, central A/C, and being in close proximity to a Target. I’m thrilled to finally be planning an event that’s not work-related and to be marrying my best friend in what I hope will be a unique and personal ceremony followed by a reception with plenty of good food, good drinks, and dancing (regardless if it’s good or not).
About Mrs. Hippo

With all the wedding party waiting for us at the front of the gallery and our guests on their feet, it was time for Mama Hippo and I to start our journey down the aisle, accompanied by the soulful sound and amazing lyrics of Tyrone Wells. I was definitely more excited than nervous. After months of planning, it was finally here, and I was just so flippin’ happy!

That’s our DOC on the left fluffing my train and our DJ on the right trying to duck out of the shot… I guess he didn’t realize there was a camera behind him.

When we were almost at the end of the aisle, King Hippo stepped off the platform to meet my mom and me. It was so good to see him after being apart all day… and my, did he look handsome!

Mama Hippo and King Hippo had a big hug, then he helped me onto the platform where our officiant stood waiting for us. Let’s do this!

Our officiant began the ceremony with a brief welcome and then the declaration of intention:

“King Hippo, Hippo, I ask of you now, in the presence of these witnesses to declare your intention to enter into the union of marriage with each other.

Hippo, will you have King Hippo to be your husband, to love together in marriage? Will you love him, comfort him, honor and keep him, in sickness and in health, and forsaking all others, be faithful to him as long as you both shall live? If so, you answer is I WILL.”

We really wanted our guests to be a part of the ceremony too, so after King Hippo and I both said our “I will,” the minister said to the guests:

“Now to their families and friends, if you will do everything in your power to uphold Hippo and King Hippo in their marriage say WE WILL.”

How are you incorporating your guests into your ceremony?

Our guests were asked to participate as well. With such a small wedding, we could hear individual guests shout, “We will!”

I *love* Tyrone Wells! Happy As The Sun was on our mix, too. No one ever knows who I am talking about, though. Yay! It complemented your beautiful day perfectly.

I love seeing someone else who’s found Tyrone! my husband (then boyfriend) had him dedicate ‘our song’ to us at at one of his concerts as he dropped on his knees to propose to me! (Song is Looking at her Face)

If you’ve never seen/ heard Tyrone live- make it happen one day, he’s amazing!

Congratulations, you were stunning and so was your wedding!!
