This weekend while Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows makes history, the Ponies will be witnessing some very special history as two of our dearest (and one of my oldest) friends get married.

The happy, soon-to-be-wed couple!

Bridesmaid What’s Her Face and Mr. What’s His Face’s (hereinafter the Faces) wedding will be the second and last wedding Mr. Pony and I will attend as an engaged couple. I have the honor of standing up with Her Face as she marries a wonderful man, which means I will be in the thick of wedding craziness all weekend while also getting to see a wedding from behind the scenes.

The time lines, the stress, and the anticipation will be highly visible as I watch the Faces wed this weekend. And, while I plan to support the bride in any way I can, I’m also planning on making mental notes of things I haven’t done or haven’t yet prepared for as this is sure to be quite an educational experience to someone whose wedding is not far off.

As a fellow bride-to-be it’s so exciting to experience Her Faces’s wedding so close to my own. The Faces got engaged just a few weeks after us Ponies, so we’ve gotten to enjoy this engagement ride together. We’ve had lots of talks about dresses, flowers, cake, and straws, but we’ve also talked about whether we would change our names, difficult family dynamics, and other deep issues that come with starting a one’s married life. All of the planning and decisions have led to this weekend, one which I hope is perfect for the Faces in every way.

To bridesmaid What’s Her Face:

We’ve shared so much together: decades of classes, being roommates, working together, wedding planning, and a lifelong friendship.

I can (and do) come to you with my deepest worries, worst problems, and greatest joys because you’re always happy to listen and offer sage advice. I couldn’t ask for a better friend or catch phrase teammate.

I wish you all the happiness in the world this weekend and I can’t wait to see you beaming down the aisle toward your future husband. I love you and I am so excited for your wedding day to finally arrive!
