It was the morning of our wedding and I couldn’t wait to get into my bride’s robe!

I also couldn’t wait to connect with Weddingbee! I woke up at 7 AM and the first thing I did was text message my best friend staying down the hall to borrow her laptop for my last post as a Miss.
We all talked for a while about where to get some coffee and the general plan and flow of the day. I could not believe it was finally upon us! One funny/crazy thing we did was move all the furniture in the room around, and then move it back. We thought we could make it more spacious, but the way it was set up was fine. Talk about nervous energy!
I took the laptop to the balcony of the suite and enjoyed a few minutes of peace and quiet reflecting on everything. Amber, Mr. Brooch’s sister, was one of the first visitors to my room. “Are you OK? Are you good? How are you feeling?” She’s SUCH a caring person and I was so glad that she was one of the first people I spent time with the morning of my wedding day; after all, she was getting ready to become my sister, officially! She joined me on the balcony of the suite and I was totally glossy and teary eyed, going on about the relationship I have with her brother; how far we have come; how God-sent he was.
I was SO sentimental y’all!
I welcomed a few people to our suite, including our fabulous photographer, Meredith Perdue. The bridesmaids and makeup artist arrived. Not long after, my mom and her twin (Auntie Brooch) arrived as well! We had a full house, and the day was definitely moving along too quick already.
The plan was to do my hair first, so I tried to relax. I texted Mr. Brooch, of course!
I actually spent quite a bit of time that morning talking to Meredith, our photographer. I emailed back and forth a lot in the months prior to the wedding, and I couldn’t wait to fill her in about everything in person! I babbled on and on about how crazy the last week had been, and got emotional telling her about the reunion between my dad and my brother; she was such an awesome and attentive listener!
I showed her the jewelry I’d be wearing. On the left is the pearl set my grandfather gave my grandmother on their wedding day. It was especially important to me because my grandfather has ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis; also know as Lou Gehrig’s disease) and could not be there. On the right is a tennis bracelet Mr. Brooch bought for me when I graduated college. Before it, I had never received such a beautiful gift.
I showed her the following picture of the cross for our ceremony that my dad made, and I had just finished spray painting the day before. My pointer fingers were—literally—not working after this job! Three cans of spray paint and a step later, our 12-foot cross was white and pretty, though! As we spoke about it, my dad and Mr. Brooch’s dad were in the midst of transporting it to the venue. Thanks guys!
I tried not to worry about my hair even though I threw a huge curve ball at my stylist. If you remember, at the hair trial we planned on an updo, but I woke up feeling spontaneous and like I wanted to surprise Mr. Brooch (he had seen my hair after the trial). I reverted back to my original plan to wear a side pony, and fiddled with my phone, texting with Mr. Brooch and tweeting to pass the time.
My bridesmaids were the. best. company. ever! The two seen photographed below sat with me in the living area of the suite all morning, and seriously, they kept me calm! We reminisced and told Meredith funny stories from our years together in high school.
One story in particular that I’ll share with you guys was from our senior year. We all took Creative Writing together, but I was the only real ’writer’ in the group. We teamed up for a project to write a script and guess who got left to do all the work?
Yup. Mrs. Brooch!
I’ll never forget the day we presented our script to the class! The girls had never read it before and were so awkward reading it aloud!
Oh, and the name of our script? Love Beyond Color! Bahaha!
At this point, my stylist had been working on my hair for a while and I started to get a little nervous about time. If there was anything that disrupted the peacefulness of that morning, it was the time! Ladies, make sure you don’t get behind and if you do, don’t stress it! I spent a lot of time working on a very strict timeline in the weeks leading up to the wedding so I knew intimately the timeframes for getting ready, our first look, family portraits, and I didn’t want to be the one to screw us up… Nevertheless, my hair started to become a bit of an issue.

The reveal of the work my stylist had done up until that point was pretty anti-climatic. I’m not sure why (maybe because I didn’t know what to expect), but I wanted a lot more curl. I also didn’t want an actual pony tail. I wanted it pulled to the side, but not pulled back.
As soon as I took a look at my hair and expressed the slightest concern, the women in the room surrounded me saying, “Speak up! Tell us what you want! What’s wrong with it?”
Um… What do I want?
Seriously folks, know what you want before the morning of the wedding! This is when the stress ensued.
How was the morning of your wedding? What did you do?
