Mrs. Brooch's Picture
Mrs. Brooch, Arlington, VA Age and Occupation: 25, Writer/Editor Fiance's Age and Occupation: 29, Front Desk Manager Engagement Date: October 3, 2009 Wedding Date: April 2011 Venue: Oxon Hill Manor About Me: I’m an indecisive girlie-girl with a motor mouth, can-do attitude, and knack for making others laugh. I dream of becoming a best selling novelist like Elizabeth Gilbert or Julie Powell (a girl can dream, right?), and love long road trips, a beautiful countryside, music, blogs, books, and all things vintage/thrift/antique/or homemade. I’m a Virgo, i.e. overly sensitive, emotional, and critical, and there’s no such thing as short and sweet in my world. I want to say and do it all. Mr. Brooch grounds me. I point where to go and he figures out the way. He’s a pragmatic fancy-pants who enjoys video games and movies. We both adore our mutt, Rocky, and spending time with our amazingly supportive family and friends. We’re planning a garden wedding with a formal reception with lots of whimsy and unique, Southern-inspired details.
About Mrs. Brooch

Did you feel an amazing sense of thankfulness for your bridesmaids?

Did you feel closer than ever to them during your wedding, and after?

Did you want to give them the world?

I did.

That’s why I sprung and bought each of them a $50 robe from Victoria’s Secret. Sure, it was expensive when you times that by five, but they are worth every penny, and then some.

Best. Decision. Ever. They were a crazy hit! My girls absolutely loved them and just as suspected, I loved the photos taken of them from the balcony of my bridal suite.

I packed each of the robes inside a personalized tote bag from Exclusively Weddings that was customized to match their favorite colors and say their names. Hit! Hit! Hit! My friends were so excited!

Sorry I don’t have a picture of their bags. I pulled them out and stuffed them the day before the wedding. It was madness! I didn’t think to take a picture!

I also included a necklace from Charming Charlie. They were all different because my friends have very different personalities. I wanted to give them jewelry they would wear again and allowed them to stand out in her own, unique way. I took these pictures shopping for the necklaces a few weeks before the wedding.

I gifted the ladies everything at our rehearsal dinner and they were so pleased! The next morning, everyone jumped into their robes without me asking them to wear them, and all morning they raved about how much they loved them! How could you not with those cute hoods on each one, and come on… who doesn’t love pink stripes?

They’re GORGEOUS!

And the title of this post couldn’t be any more true…

Hold your friends with both hands (an African proverb)…

Especially if they are as good to you as these women are to me.

I had to get in on the action, of course and snag a few photos of me and my favorite girls! I’m so glad that I did, too, because we didn’t get a lot of us at the venue…

As we finished up, my maid of honor yelled out over the balcony, “She’s getting married today!” I got so excited and had to do a little happy dance!

Next, it was time to slap on the makeup and figure out how to wear my hair! Then I was off to see my groom!

Did you have a little photo session with your bridesmaids?
