I say "wicked" and "y’all" in the same sentence and I like to drink sweet tea with my lobster. Mr. Lion and I are both former Floridians now living in Atlanta, which fortunately is still SEC country...Go Gators! We both love baseball, coffee, traveling, cooking, and playing Words with Friends with each other on our iPhones all day long. I’m very passionate about the things and the people I love, and I tend to plan things with all of my heart...our wedding, of course, is no different! Oh, and also Mr. Lion is a first generation American of Cuban descent. I may look more like Lucy than Ricky, but I’m doing my best to incorporate some Latin elements into our vintage-garden-Southern wedding!

Adventures in Asheville: Noms

July 20th, 2011 @ 5:44 pm by Mrs. Lioness

I expected it to be a very old fashioned, traditional Southern town, but Asheville actually has a really cool and quirky dining scene…which we took full advantage of.

Nine Mile, a restaurant that features Caribbean-inspired dishes, is one of the leaders in Asheville’s locavore and organic movements. We were lucky enough to be staying within walking distance.

And, of course, we washed down our spicy and delicious entrees with some refreshing craft beer.

We also tried the Tupelo Honey Café. This restaurant features “new South” cuisine, and they take pride in their fresh farm-to-table dishes. We had been looking forward to eating at this restaurant throughout our stay, but unfortunately, we got hungry right around the same time that the NCAA Men’s Basketball National Championship game came on TV! Luckily, the Tupelo Honey Café does to go orders!

We ordered a lot; this way, we could try a little of everything and have leftovers for the drive home!

We finished up our honeymoon with full bellies and the game on in the background, as we looked through all of the Facebook photos that our friends and family had uploaded from our wedding.

I am soooo craving Mac ‘n Cheese, now! We’re also big fans of fresh farm-to-table cuisine. :)

I wish I could have tried Tupelo Honey Cafe. We tried to go there the night we got in town but the GPS could not find the location for the address we had found and we didn’t feel like wandering downtown Asheville. I just wish that I could have joined them for breakfast the next morning which they found the 2nd location but I had to leave early. But I will go back there one day and find the place!

I love Asheville. There is a French restaurant I love there, blanking on the name…but I love Tupelo Honey Cafe too!
