Mrs. Snow Cone's Picture
Mrs. Snow Cone, Pittsburgh/Johnstown, PA Age and Occupation: 23, Public Health Graduate Student Fiance's Age and Occupation: 23, Engineer Engagement Date: April 9, 2010 Wedding Date: August 2011 Venue: OMOS Church ceremony/Sunnehanna Country Club reception About Me: I’m one of the lucky ones---I met my future husband at the ripe old age of 13, started dating him as a mature woman of 15, and have been enjoying the ride ever since. Here we are, 8 years later, living in Pittsburgh, planning a "homestination" wedding in the place our school romance began---Johnstown, PA. I thrive on talking a mile a minute, eating my weight in chocolate, and internet shopping. I love a lengthy to-do list almost as much as I love a healthy amount of chaos in my life. Mr. Snow Cone and I watch countless episodes of Friends and The West Wing on repeat, root for rival college sports teams, and make each other laugh each and every day. We’re putting together a small-town wedding with a big personality and a classically modern (or modernly classic?) look for 250 of our closest family and friends. It’s been 8+ years in the making, and sometimes I still can’t believe I’m finally getting to marry my high school sweetheart!

Flashing Forward

July 20th, 2011 @ 6:07 pm by Mrs. Snow Cone

On a recent trip to Johnstown, I walked into my bedroom, and the whole wedding day suddenly became very real. My eyes landed on one specific item, and all of a sudden, I had visions of getting ready, butterflies in my stomach, a photographer snapping wildly in the background, a goofy grin on my face. What singular item could evoke such vivid imagery? Here’s a hint: it wasn’t my shoes, or my dress, or my wedding band. Instead, it was a twisted piece of metal.

Seeing that hanger made it so tangible. To be honest, it’s not as though I just saw this hanger sitting on a dresser and had a flash-forward.

My blessed mom had tidied up my room to prepare it for W-day madness and had placed this special hanger on a heavy-duty over-door dress hanger. What I saw is more than likely going to be the exact dress-hanging mechanism we’ll employ on the real wedding day. All that was missing from the set-up was my pretty little dress! The wedding is definitely peeking out from behind the corner, waiting to unload a flurry of activity, excitement, and emotions.

What sights have made you understand that the wedding is far closer than you previously realized?

Aw, I love your hanger! That is so beautiful! I remember that even through all the wedding planning, it didn’t hit me that I was actually getting married until my first bridal shower. Can’t believe your wedding is so close! :)

Love the hanger! For me it was this weekend. We were scouting out a rehearsal dinner venue and once we found it, I realized just how quickly our big day was approaching. Visualizing myself in the room, in my rehearsal dress that I just purchased, made everything a little more real. This weekend we are mailing invites so I’m sure I will get that feeling again.

This exact item… when I opened mine at my bridal shower, I felt so funny. Just a rush of feelings. I love that yours has both names on it. So sweet :)

Oh you are so close. I don’t think I do think it is close yet…until I look at the countdown on my phone. But then I mostly feel stressed, not excited!

You’re getting close! The idea of our wedding was so surreal, even through the shower and bachelorette. It hit me about a month out when I went into frenzied mode for no good reason. Everything goes into hyper speed after 30 days. Good luck, lady!
