Hair’s the Deal

July 20th, 2011 @ 4:11 pm by Mrs. Pony

I feel as if I have done my due diligence in researching things for our wedding; finding the best deals, most talented vendors, the exact the product I want, and loads of inspiration. The one glaring exception to this has been finding inspiration for my hair and makeup on the big day. This normally wouldn’t bother me as I can spend a few hours with my laptop and some wedding blogs and find what I need, except for the teeny fact that my hair and makeup trial is less than a week away and I still haven’t done any serious research.

Here are a few hair inspiration pictures I’ve collected since working on this post:

Clearly, I am drawn to the loose, romantic, curly updos that are all the rage right now. Luckily, I have plenty of hair to pull off this style, but I am concerned how and where to incorporate a veil in such lovely mountains of curls.

Although, the gorgeous Mrs. Tartlet seemed to pull off this style with a veil and made it look absolutely stunning:

I figure I’ll bring these pictures and veil and hope that the hair stylist will be able to work her magic and make it perfect. Just in case this style can’t be done with a veil, I am also bringing some examples of more structured styles I found that I like:

So, you guys are the experts, will this style work with a veil? Were you able to make your hair dreams come true? Where do you get your hair inspirations (I feel like it’s an underrepresented area as far as wedding inspiration goes)?

Next up, we’ll talk makeup? (asked in Ron Burgundy’s tone)

I really love the loose curl look, it’s so beautiful! Hope it works with your veil!

I’m not sure what style veil you’re wearing, but I wore my hair in a similar style for my wedding. I wore a cathedral-length mantilla over it for the ceremony and then just wore jeweled hairpins during the reception. The hair managed perfectly!

I love the wavy, loose, up-do look! Especially the fourth photo! One of my best friends just got married and her up-do was so loose that from some angles it looked like her hair was down. It was absolutely gorgeous! And her veil worked into it just perfectly. I say stick to your first set of inspiration pictures! I’m sure your hairstylist will know how to give you just what you want!

Very nice! The style I’m going for is similar. I think it will definitely work with a veil. I’m planning to wear the veil at my crown, to not disrupt the cluster of curls.

I went back and forth between the loose and structured updo for so long! I was also worried that the former wouldn’t work with my veil, but my stylist totally made it work once I explained my concerns. I hope you find a ‘do that’s perfect for you! Thanks for the sweet compliment, too. :) I was like “eep!” when I scrolled through and saw that photo!

OMG you have no idea how long I have been looking for the perfect hair inspiration to show my stylist. I loooooove all those pictures you posted. That is the exact, exact look I am wanting to go for. Thank you so much for the pics!!!! My hair is very thin and fine and just about to my chest so I am really hoping I can pull something like this off. I am only doubtfull bc of the thinness. Thanks for posting this.

@MissCarnival: Glad you could find some inspiration!
@Miss Scarlet: It is similar to how you describe yours, but a shorter length. Hopefully that means it will all work!
@Mrs. Tartlet: It’s well deserved, your whole look was amazing!
@mlharrison23: That’s awesome, glad I could help :)
@Miss Honey: And I totally just used your suggestion for my makeup post coming up next. Newest favorite thing.

Gorgeous! I love the second one. I think these would look great with a veil, especially the looser ones! And you do have great hair. Oh, and yes - Pinterest is the BEST for hair inspiration!

I really need to get on this too. I love the 4th one so you will kind of be able to see it from the front since it is off center. I think your stylist should definitely be able to figure out how to work your veil into your hair-spiration!

OMG those loose curls pictures you found are GORGEOUS! I might have to make one of those work with my veil for sure! I’m sure there’s a way!
