Mrs. Parasol, San Ramon, California Age and Occupation: 25, Non-profit writer, editor, and blogger Fiance's Age and Occupation: 25, Law school student Engagement Date: December 19th, 2010 Wedding Date: September 2011 Venue: Bent Creek Winery (Livermore, California); Reception: Family Residence (San Ramon, California) About Me: I am a California girl at heart. I love the outdoors, sunny days at the beach, and hiking in the woods and mountains. I also love good books and am fresh from completing my Master's degree in English and Comparative Literature in New York City. Living in NYC was an amazing experience, and while I'm glad to be back on the West Coast, I'm also thankful that my two years back East gave me an opportunity to explore new places, make new friends, and indulge my passion for Broadway shows. Oh, and I received a pretty awesome proposal from Mr. Parasol in Central Park. Above all else, Mr. Parasol is my biggest cheerleader and my best friend. But even though I'm thrilled to be marrying him, I wasn't always totally on board with this whole wedding thing and at first, I wanted to run off and elope. I've finally been convinced to throw the wedding I never thought I wanted, and so now I'm busy planning an intimate September wedding filled with DIY details. Along the way, I'm slowly learning to appreciate, perhaps even love the wedding planning process.

Save the Dates Are Here…

July 20th, 2011 @ 2:12 pm by Mrs. Parasol

…and they look fabulous! Even better than I had expected. I am so happy with how they turned out, and I’m thankful that they were so easy to personalize and order. If any of you ever need any save the dates or invitations or anything, I highly recommend Wedding Paper Divas.

Here are just a few snapshots to give you a sense of how they look.

I love the little calendar in the corner! The calendar is definitely what sold Mr. Parasol and me on this particular template for our save the dates. It was simply too adorable to pass up!

The pictures also look wonderful. They’re so sharp and colorful! And I love that Mr. Parasol and I were able to include so many snapshots from our life together.

On the reverse side, there was space for Mr. Parasol and me to include a short description of how we met and fell in love. While everyone who’s being invited should already know our story, I’m glad that we could fill the blank space with something useful and fun.

So now that our save the dates are here, we can finally send them out and really get this wedding ball rolling! Once these go out, I feel like there will be no turning back—not that I would want to or anything! Mr. Parasol and I are planning to make our address labels this weekend (and I hope no one judges this as too tacky or anything), and then we’re hoping to mail our save the dates early this week. More than anything, I can’t wait for our guests to start getting these little beauties in the mail.

In other (brief) news, I wanted to post a picture of Mama Parasol’s fabulous mother-of-the-bride dress. I sent her an email of one that I had seen and really liked, and she bought it almost immediately. And we’re so glad she did because she looks amazing in it!

Isn’t this dress stunning? Mama Parasol is going to look so beautiful. And best of all, she loves the dress!

What’s your favorite thing about your save the dates? And/or tell me about your mom’s MOB dress!

Curious about when your invitations will be going out if your STDs are only going out now with a September wedding??? No judgement - just honestly curious! I’m also having a Sept wedding and stressed that I’m so far behind…

@missbeachbum: They actually went out several months ago–I agree, it would be strange if we were just sending them out now! We just sent out our invitations yesterday since we’re just over eight weeks away from our wedding.

Haha okay - that makes sense! My poor little bride brain is overflowing with all the little details that have to be done in the next 6 weeks. All the big stuff is done, but the small DIY/details list seems to be never-ending…

I love the calendar! And my mom’s MOB dress is almost identical only in a dark purple. It is such a flattering dress I almost want one for myself!
