…everything we wanted. That’s what our cake tasting was made of.
Sparks and I just had a really big planning weekend. Our parents were in town and the big items on our “To-Do” list were the menu and cake tastings. Not a bad list to tackle. So on Friday afternoon, my mom and I hurried over to Amy Beck Cake Design and met Sparks and his dad for a little sugar-fest.

CAKE!

ICING!
This tasting was seriously so much fun. The girls at Amy Beck were super friendly, and Amy was very professional and cut right to the chase in creating our vision. Oh, and the cake? Delish.

I knew the cake was really important to Sparks, so I let him take the reins on this one. With his direction, we all dug in and experimented with different flavor combos. We oooh-ed and ahhh-ed over the delicious icing and moist cake, then started narrowing down our choices.

I’m allergic to strawberries, so that flavor was the first to go. Saddest allergy ever?
It took us a little while, but we finally decided on our top two favorite cakes: Devil’s food and vanilla butter (Seriously? Vanilla butter??? It was so good). Then, we looked to Sparks for the finishing touch. Which icing would he go with?

Indecisive Sparks
To help us decide, Sparks started crafting “mini-cakes.” I’ve included some pictures of this highly refined art below:

The winner?
We decided to go with both the vanilla butter cake and the devil’s food cake. We couldn’t pick just one! With the vanilla cake, we’ll layer chocolate ganache and raspberry butter cream. And with the devil’s food cake, we’ll layer vanilla and raspberry butter cream. Yum!!! My mouth is watering again.
What flavors did you choose for your wedding cake?
