Mrs. Cannon's Picture
Mrs. Cannon, Toledo, OH Age and Occupation: 27, Financial Analyst Fiance's Age and Occupation: 28, Assembler Engagement Date: February 28, 2011 Wedding Date: September 2011 Venue: Epworth UMC & Ward Pavilion About Me: I'm the curious combination of being a go-with-the-flow, laid back, obsessive planner. I try desperately to stay as busy as possible at all times (and am succeeding big time right now!) My biggest loves in life are Law & Order: SVU, Community (the show, not the concept, although I like that, too), ice cream, white cheddar popcorn, beer, hiking, knitting, decorating, writing, being outside, spending time with friends and family and musical theater. Mr. Cannon is pretty sweet, too. We've had a lot of fun traveling and having adventures all over the country, but have finally moved back near our hometown to settle down. We're planning a low-key, colorful, fun wedding and an awesome-to-the-max reception.
About Mrs. Cannon

First, I would like to thank you bees for your advice on our rehearsal dinner dilemma. The majority of your advice emphasized the importance of Mr. Cannon’s opinion and that I need to reduce my stress as we get closer to the wedding. Considering that advice, I made the decision to delegate. I told Mr. Cannon that he and his mother were officially in charge of the rehearsal dinner. I have complete faith in Mr. Cannon, and his mom is a tough lady, so I knew they would come through and they did. He says his mom got everything set up at Pizzapapalis, and I’m taking his word for it and am not worried at all.

Can I tell you how good that feels? Just making the decision that something is not my problem was such a relief. I have had such a hard time delegating wedding tasks for two reasons:

  1. If I’m doing something, the only person who can screw it up is me, so I don’t have to worry about anyone else acting responsibly
  2. I don’t want people to think I’m some Bridezilla slave driver forcing them to work on my wedding

Both of these reasons are absolutely ridiculous. I’m not the only responsible human being alive, and no one thinks I’m a Bridezilla. All my close friends and family have volunteered to help, so I’m hardly being a slave-driver. It’s time that I relax and let people help. Easier said than done, but I’m working on it.

Back to the point of this post:

I’m once again asking for your help, Hive.

This time, it’s something even more silly and pointless than last time—shoes! I am having a heck of a time finding shoes. Color-wise, I want either white or bright pink shoes. I want a heel, but not a huge platform. (I’m tall with giant boobs. When I get into major platforms I start looking like a drag queen.) Style-wise, I want a peep-toe, and would prefer not to wear strappy sandals. Cost-wise, I want them to cost less than $200, and preferably much less than $200. I don’t really like slingbacks. (I’m certainly not picky, right?) Since I’m wearing a short dress, my shoes will be visible the whole time, so I’d like something eye catching and fun. I kind of know what I want, but I just haven’t found THE shoes.

And Now for Something Completely Trivial : wedding shoes toledo 12 1

Seychelles I Do in white/ Via Zappos

These puppies are my front runners right now. They’re ugly-cute, and I kind of love them. I’m just worried they aren’t fancy enough for my wedding. I might get these to try on with my dress when it’s finished just to see how they look together.

And Now for Something Completely Trivial : wedding shoes toledo 21 2

Promiscuous Ryan in Fuchsia Glitter / Via Zappos

I actually think these ones are a bit too much and definitely pushing into drag queen territory, but I love the irony of wearing shoes called Promiscuous at our wedding.

And Now for Something Completely Trivial : wedding shoes toledo 3 3

Nine West Kailee in White Patent Leather / Via Zappos

I think these ones are so cool in the back, but it looks like the guy-who-was-designing-them’s pizza showed up when he got to the front and he was just like, “Uh, a rectangle or something. Whatever, I don’t care, I’m hungry.”

And Now for Something Completely Trivial : wedding shoes toledo 4 4

Steve Madden Haylow in Black Patent Leather / Via Zappos

I LOVE these. I’m obsessed with t-straps. If these came in white or hot pink, they would be my shoes. I actually think black shoes with a white dress look really cool (see Mrs. Mouse and Mrs. Stripes) but I feel like my dress just wouldn’t work quite right with black shoes and a bright pink crinoline. I think there would be too much competition to be the main attraction.

And Now for Something Completely Trivial : wedding shoes toledo 5 5

Pour La Victoire Cristella 2 in Fuchsia Satin / Via Zappos

I think these are awesome, but I think the platform might be too high in relation to the rest of the shoe. I love the bows on the back, though!

So I’m sure you’re looking at these and thinking, “I have no idea what you’re looking for, Miss Cannon. These are all over the place!” And yeah, it’s true. I’m just one of those “know it when I see it” people, and while I really like all of these for one reason or another, I just haven’t got the “those are IT” feeling yet.

So what do you think, Hive? I know my taste usually runs from ridiculous to hideous, but I know what I like. I just don’t like anything enough to wear it for my wedding yet. Any suggestions?

I’m totally loving the first pair! And I think depending on your dress, they are definitely fancy enough!

Oh, I love the last pair. But I am partial to colored shoes, mine will be red. What about something like these…I found them on Endless.com but the link is crazy long so here is the style.

Caparros Women’s Lizzie Open-Toe Pump

or these….

OMG, I found this pair of hot pink amazing shoes at DSW the other day and am trying to think of any reason I could possibly use to justify buying them, but maybe they would be good for you! They are the Kelly & Katie Meg Sandal and just $44.95. I don’t know if this link will work, but here it is: http://www.dsw.com/shoe/kelly+.and.+katie+meg+sandal?prodId=225082&category=dsw12cat1230022

Please take a look, I think they aren’t really sandal-y, although they are in the sandal section, and would be perfect for a bride!

Love the last ones with the pink bow. As long as you aren’t taller than your hubby, don’t worry about the platform.

The first pair with a ribbon instead of the shoe string might be cool.

Haha, I love all of your shoe descriptions! You’re so funny! I, too, had a really hard time finding my wedding shoes. Just know that you will find them, and probably when you least expect to. :)

Go for the Pour La Victoire in the Pink satin. I have a few pairs of their shoes and they are comfortable, like really comfortable for a huge heel. Hidden platforms are great with stilettos because they’re cushy and the heel is actually shorter than they appear.

I love your shoe descriptions, you’re cracking me up!

I am only finding things with a slingback which isn’t helpful (I hate them too), hopefully the powers of the bees can come up with a great find!

I’m the same way, I know it when I see it…it’s enough to make me crazy :) But when I find it, game over! Keep up the search, you’ll get there. The last pair are my faves!

I just bought my shoes last week…and I don’t have a dress yet! I found the style I liked on zappos but searched around and found them in my BM dresses color on endless.com

I seriously cannot get over those first pair of shoes! They’re so different and I definitely feel like they’d be great for a wedding! Honestly, it feels like they’re completely you and I can just picture it with a short dress!
