The Whirlwind Begins

July 23rd, 2011 @ 1:20 pm by Mrs. Teacup

Although it took a little warming up to the idea, Mr. Hot Tea and I wasted no time getting to the sizzle! Which makes me think of bacon…

Oh wait, I’m supposed to be sharing a love story. Right. Getting back on track, the spark was a little more like this…

Mr. HT would serenade me to sleep over the phone with his guitar. We’d pretend to watch Caddyshack and snuggle on the couch instead. He’d leave me love Post-Its on my car to find in the morning, and we would make out in the street like a couple of teenagers for what seemed like an hour before he drove himself home for the night. Ahhh, new love! So fun, so exhilarating!

Sweetness

Strangely enough, we made family introductions within the first two weeks of dating. His lives locally, and mine just happened to host a mini-reunion in Vegas for my grandma’s 80th birthday.

Community service

We fell fast and decided pretty early on that we were a good match. After almost a year of dating, it was time to make the move and figure out where to live…together!

Facing our future

Nesting deserves its own post, and even after that it would be nearly another year before Mr. HT popped the question.

Now it’s time to turn the tables…did you and your beloved make the leap to settle in before the ring? What factored into your decision to move? Or not?

We moved in together before the ring! The biggest factor in that decision: I was pregnant with our son! We lived together for a little over 2 years before getting engaged.

We moved in after 6 months of dating and the ring didn’t come for another year and a half! There was no pressure though and it was a total surprise when he popped the question!

I love notes like that!! We have a dry-erase marker in our bathroom to write on the mirror when we feel so inclined :) And he introduced me to his family at Christmas (read: 45 people, Eeeek!) and someone asked how long we had been dating… my answer? Three weeks :) hey, when you know, you know, and you two are just way too stinkin’ cute together!

We moved in together about a year of dating! My parents were a bit poleaxed by the decision, but we figured we’d rather have the money in our pockets than maintain two apartments for appearance-sake. :P WTB that pink bike!

@erostron: Congrats on your family, that’s sweet :)

@chrispygal: I love that your proposal was a surprise!

@Miss Pony: Thanks, Pony! Mr. HT has monkey arms, he took that photo of us :)

@paw: Thanks! How long were you living together before he proposed?

@breezybri19: What a great idea! Gotta go dig out my markers now :) We have similar stories - fun!

@Mrs. Tartlet: Good point. Saving $$ makes sense, especially if you know you’ll be on the wedding track. You just reminded me why we did - we lived 30 minutes apart and the commute was starting to get old after a year of dating :)

And, HT bought me that bike as a surprise so we could cruise Monterey together - such a generous guy!

We lived together for a year before he popped the question too! I’m so happy we made that decision :)

We moved in together after only 6 months - a main factor was the hour commute between our apartments, and we were doing that 3-5 times a week! The proposal didn’t come for almost three years after that, but I wasn’t worried. When ya know, ya know :)

We lived together for almost 4 years before he popped the question. We decided to take the plunge when I was being kicked out of my apt and I basically forced him to move into a new apt with me.
