That’s what I think of when I hear the phrase “wedding theme.” Prom flashbacks!!
Nevertheless, Bossyboots and I do have a distinct theme that guided us in our wedding venue search: “Food and Booze.”
Food and Booze, people, food and booze.
Bossyboots and I love to eat. We are champion eaters. We love a cheapo meal just like anyone, but we also love to take advantage of Chicago’s fantastic restaurant scene…Cuban, Japanese, Vietnamese, Brazilian, French, etc., etc., on and on. Here in the Chi you can find just about any cuisine you’d like, cooked by someone who knows what they’re doing. This is a hobby we share with almost all our friends—one of the Snapdragon bridesmaids, Colo, is also a part of an underground dinner club. She won’t let the rest of us in on it yet—we’re still working on wearing her down. Chicago = good for eaters. I refuse to call us foodies, because I hate that word. I have a lot of opinions.
So of course that meant food and booze were at the tippy mctiptop of our wedding priority list. I have been to too many weddings where the fish and chicken was dry, the steak overcooked, or the veggies were all wilty. No thanks. So I turned to a venue known well to the Hive…
There was Mrs. Plum…

Mrs. Apple…

And more recently, Mrs. FroYo!

That’s right, we’re getting married at Marie Gabrielle in Dallas. The Hive knows best!
In addition to the rave reviews from my senior bees, I also knew about Marie Gabrielle via an acquaintance who held her off-the-hook wedding there. Across the board, everyone I spoke to said that the food at Marie Gabrielle was A+, not a dry piece of anything in sight. Check out a few yum food photos from Mrs. FroYo’s wedding!
And not to mention, the venue is gorgeous—I’ve termed it a secret garden in the middle of downtown Dallas (all below from Life as Art Photography):

We really could not be more pleased. Here’s a photo with my clear and honest assessment:

This photo was taken back in March, while Bossyboots and I were on the Grand Venue Adventure. We toured Marie Gabrielle and stayed for that very important tasting. More on that later—let’s just say none of our guests will be going home hungry. In fact, they’ll likely be rolling out of there.
Operation Food and Booze: Success!
