About Mrs. High Wire

When we left off in part 1, I was crying because our invites and additional documents were just thrown in the envelope and I didn’t care for everything sliding around inside.

I sought out advice from our wedding planner, Shelley, about what to do. It turns out that she was actually already planning on swinging by a stationery store and would see what they sold that would help us. She wound up putting these on hold for us:

Diagonal Folder Enclosure from Paper Source

The RSVP card and envelope tuck nicely right into that little fold, and then our invite goes right on top. The top 1/3 of the invitation itself actually sticks out of the top, but I really like it because it looks kind of like this when you pull it out of the envelope.:

You can see the introduction paragraph but have to open it up to see what you are invited to. Then once you open it up, it looks like this:

I am so glad we’re adding the enclosure to our invites. It makes me so much happier. The only downside is that the enclosures alone wound up being $185 and combined with our original invitation order from Vistaprint and stamps (which we may now have to double up on since the enclosures added a lot of weight to the envelope), we are now looking at a $500+ cost for our DIY invites. Ouch! This was an area we definitely under-budgeted for. So take note!

All that’s left now is to check their weight (fingers crossed for not needing extra stamps), finish addressing, and drop them in the mail!

Did your invitations wind up being more expensive or less expensive than you originally anticipated?

The same thing happened to me, I just had to have pocket enclosures to keep everything neat and tide. It did up our postage to the 2oz rate but on the bright side USPS has cute wedding cake stamps at that price!

They are very cute though! I like the pocket! I think it adds to the invites! Here’s hoping the weight doesn’t cause you more postage!!

I’ve never seen a pocket quite like that, I really like how it showcases everything on your invitations. Glad you like how the invitations look now, worth the extra expense in my book. :)

Looks neat, I like the pocket!
I budgeted for $300 and ended up doing it for under $100- stamps included! I found a local paper shop that sold me all the envelopes and pre-cut cardstock (in custom sizes) for under $50 for 150 invitations and I made my own design on photoshop and made them myself :)

@Miss Pony: ditto what she said!
The pocket is really unique and VERY intriguing!
Our invites are pretty simple (even if the design itself is unique and one-of-a-kinda) but we’re going for inexpensive, since they usually get tossed anyway. :)

My invites were designed and screen-printed for us at-cost as a wedding gift by a printmaker friend, so they were wildly cheaper than comparable invites would normally cost. But I was still surprised at the cost just of the materials! Almost $100 for cardstock, envelopes, and ink.

TOTALLY worth it, though; they were gorgeous.

I like the pocket, and I love how you get a little teaser before you open it all up! Good problem solving, and crossing fingers for no additional postage!

The combo of the rectangular invite + square pocketfold is ingenious!

I haven’t seen that style before, nice :) It fits your invitation perfectly! You’re making me think that I’d better get working on my DIY pocketfolds now. Sigh.
