Mrs. Cucumber Sandwich, Washington, DC/Cape May, NJ Age and Occupation: 28, School Counselor Fiance's Age and Occupation: 40, Collegiate Athletics Engagement Date: March 27, 2010 Wedding Date: October 2011 Venue: Congress Hall Hotel About Me: I am a school counselor who spends my day wrangling children and my nights attempting to be creative with wedding projects. My enthusiasm for each of these activities far surpasses my skill. Thank goodness Mr. Cucumber Sandwich is there to pick up the pieces and be the voice of reason about my DIY tries. I have an obsession with terrible romantic comedies (‘From Justin to Kelly’ anyone?, anyone?!?), competitive Scrabble play, and hot dogs. I could eat astronaut ice cream for every meal and can’t seem to resist buying more shoes. Our wedding is going to be a true hodge podge of semi-destination, tradition, Yuengling, New England charm, with just a dash of ‘Jersey Shore’ thrown in. It has been six years in the making and I can’t wait to marry my best friend.
About Mrs. Cucumber Sandwich

Kick Off My Sunday Shoes : wedding cape may shoes Cukesam cukesam

I am fully on board the colored-shoes-for-brides bandwagon. I might be even steering that train. (I have no idea what that means either.) Now I am on the hunt for the perfect pair of fun colored shoes. Unfortunately I have a couple of obstacles on my hunt. First off, my wedding colors aren’t fun-shoe colors. As a refresher the wedding colors are navy, gray, khaki, white, and a splash of orange. Shockingly, orange shoes are not so popular on Zappos.

My other problem is I really want to wear heels. But we are getting married in the grass, and I am only a couple inches shorter than Mr. Cucumber Sammie. I am sure I can find cute flats, but I spend every day in flats. High heels make me feel more dressed up. As an added bonus, I think they make my posture better. I know this is going to sound like the worst reason in the world, but I also really want pictures like this:

I started my shoe search at Zappos in the flats section. I found a couple that were contenders, but they don’t make my heart soar like those gorgeous shoes above.

After trudging around in the flats section, I decided to just take a peek at the heels to see if there was anything I liked. I checked the box for under-two-inch heels in hopes that will keep me sufficiently shorter than Mr. Cucumber Sammie. Thanks to Zappos’ amazing return policy, I might have to order some of these shoes just to try them on. In the name of research, of course.

After seeing them all together like this, it is obvious that I have a type: navy peep-toe. My favorites are the Calvin Klein flats, the Caparros Olinda, and the Vaneli Madora. I will probably just order all three and see which ones I like best. Who knows? I might become a three-shoe bride!

Where did you find your shoes? Did you include anything in your wedding just because of the pretty pictures?

If you’re getting married in the grass, I would definitely stick to wedges or flats. You don’t want to worry about sinking in and tripping! Good luck!

Much like you, I spent hours on Zappos. I found both my ceremony and reception shoes there - after many orders and returns of course! My husband got quite tired of coming home from work to find Zappos boxes on the porch. However because of their awesome return policy all but two went back - a gorgeous but uncomfortable pair of pumps and a cute and comfy pair of flats. If I could do it again I’d go with the comfy flats all day!!!

In the end go with the ones that you love but are also comfortable!

PS - I like the Olindas! :)

I agree about the wedges… although a friend of mine got married in the grass and she wore wedge flip flops for the ceremony and switched to her heels afterwards. I love love love the Adlynn shoe up there with the ruffle… that’s almost exactly what I’m looking for for my wedding except in hot pink!

I have the Calvin Klein ones and they are incredibly comfy, like wearing slippers. I wanted heels but with an uneven aisle/grass in my outdoor ceremony, flats seemed like a better choice :)

I was definitely going to suggest navy! “Something Blue!”

My faves are the Adalynn’s. Is there any way that you can wear flats for the ceremony & dress it up for the reception w/ some cute heels?

So many pretty options, I could spend days searching Zappos! Also, I love that song (the one referenced in your title).

Now I am going to zappos for some window (screen?) shopping. I found my heels there (bouquets Iris in bronze), but I am trying to find green ones for my maids, and there aren’t alot of green show options out there. Also, now that a lot of people are going the 2 shoe route, I will have to look up some flats!

I’d go with the wedge as well. Or since you are completely comfortable being a multi-shoe bride then go with flats for the ceremony and heels for the reception. A lil bit of dazzle and change for not a lot of money

Zappos is a dangerous corner of the online world for me to be. ;) The ruffles on the Madora are so flirty and fun!

I knew I wanted aboard the colored shoe wagon…so I just bought my shoes before I even bought my dress!

The wedges are super cute and would be a great compromise between flats for practicality and heels for the “dressed up” feeling…

@thefuturemrs.o: That is probably what I will end up doing. I just need to find two pairs of shoes now. Darn!
@redheadartgirl: Those are absolutely gorgeous!
