Mrs. Elephant's Picture
Mrs. Elephant, Dallas, TX Age and Occupation: 27, Financial Operations Analyst Fiance's Age and Occupation: 27, IT Student/Store Manager Engagement Date: March 29, 2009 Wedding Date: April 2011 Venue: The Tribute Golf Club About Me: I'm a Philly native creating roots deep in the heart of Texas. I might be a little obsessed capturing those Kodak moments of anything and everything (mainly on vacations). I've become more of a gamer thanks to Mr. Elephant, who I met online and can't wait to spend the rest of my life with. We are planning a wedding based on our favorite colors, blue and green, with a travel theme for 150 of our closest friends and family. Hopefully our long (2-year) engagement won't kill me!
About Mrs. Elephant

We asked our bridal party to dance into the reception to It Takes Two by Rob Base and DJ EZ Rock and they did not disappoint!

Mr. E and I fed off of their energy for our entrance to Fall Out Boy’s The Take Over, The Break’s Over.

We opted to go right into our first dance while everyone was already focused on the dance floor. Our first dance was to Good Morning Beautiful by Steve Holy which had a personal connection for Mr. E and me.

We thought about taking dance lessons, (and even went to one) but when we saw how expensive it was going to be we decided to nix it. So get ready for a little sway action.

Good morning beautiful

How was your night

Mine was wonderful with you by my side

When I open my eyes and see your sweet face

It’s a good morning beautiful day.

I couldn’t see the light

I didn’t know day from night

I had no reason to care

But since you came along

I can face the dawn,

’Cause I know you’ll be there

I’m never worried if it’s raining outside

Because in here with you girl,

The sun always shines

Will you have your first dance earlier or later in the reception?

I love the ’sway action’. That’s what we did too. And it was earlier in the night. I’m loving the shoes on the GMs :)

I am wrestling with that very question! Our entrance is into the room where we are eating but the dance floor is outside and I just can’t decide if we should walk straight out there or wait. Oh and I just might steal your “it takes two” song!

Your bridal party looks like they had so much fun, it’s great! And I don’t know if I didn’t see them before or something, but I love the linens your cake is on (in the first photo).

We transitioned straight into our first dance, too. I love your song choice, and the Chucks look awesome in these photos!

I think we’re probably going to do our first dance later, after dinner - I think almost every wedding I’ve been to has done it that way, and then everyone can just get right into the dance action after the first dances are over - but it seems that with most wedding planning stuff I read, it’s suggested that the first dance happen before dinner. Interesting, isn’t it? I can see the appeal both ways.

And I LOVE “Good Morning, Beautiful.”

I think we’re going to do our first dance later, after dinner - I think almost every wedding I’ve been to has done it that way, since the dance action can continue with the guests right after the first dances are over. But it seems everything I’ve read related to wedding planning suggests you do the first dance right after the entrance and before dinner. Interesting, huh?

And I LOVE “Good Morning, Beautiful.”

[WB seriously hates me. I definitely looked to see if my first comment had been posted before re-typing at all again.] :-P

@bRooklynRocks: Yay for sway action! The guys loved those shoes! My brother still wears them on a daily basis.

@xtatic1: Love me some “It Takes Two”!

@Miss Pony: I don’t know if I’ve had a picture of them yet, but we went with fancier linens for the cakes tables and our sweetheart table.

@Melanie11: I think it works so well both ways. We decided to split up the first dance and father/daughter dance, so after I danced with my dad everyone was on the dance floor. I’ve been to several weddings where they saved the first dance for later as well :)

Your smiles as you entered the ballroom were priceless, and yes I SHED yet another happy tear or two as you danced your first dance. I leaned over to Papa E and said “wasn’t it just yesterday E was riding a big wheel in the drive way”. Loved the first dance song and also loved that you remembered Papa E and my first dance song and made sure it was in your play list.. still love Al Green’s, “Lets stay together” thanks E.

Early! I love going right into it while the energy is still up! Plus it breaks up all the other dances such as father/daughter or mother/son. Seems like ppl won’t get bored that way.

That song gets to me every time I hear it! Great song choice. I like that you went right into the first dance - I think we are doing the same!

I would LOVE to know where you got your neat table clothes the ones with blues and greens in it?

Many thanks!
