A Lovebird Shower

July 28th, 2011 @ 3:36 pm by Mrs. High Wire

My mom and aunt hosted a beautiful bridal shower for me last weekend. It was a total whirlwind! It gave me a small taste of what the wedding day is going to be like. And that is: over in the blink of an eye. I made sure to take a few mere seconds to appreciate having all of my close female friends and family all together in once space. But just like that, it was over! I couldn’t believe it.

But before it ended, there was LOTS to be enjoyed. How about we take a glimpse shall we?

First up, food!

There were yummy sandwiches made of chicken and pesto, egg salad, and a third un-sampled-by-me sandwich. Fruit, crunchy bread thingies, brownies, iced tea, and lemonade. Yum!!

My mom and aunt really flew with the bird theme at the shower. Did you catch that little pun I threw in there there?

The shower favors—bird soaps in a nest, in a box. I LOVE them. The collection of favors were topped with a little feather clip-on bird for the guests to grab on their way out.

I requested no games at the party (what? those can be awkward and boring). So there was a lot of mingling.

My drill team director from high school attended as well as some of my old girl friends from the team.

And then suddenly, half of the party had whizzed by and it was time to open presents.

Oh yes, check out the loot. And now for a series of giddy present-opening-shots:

This is the only shot I got with my mom and aunt. So sad! They did such an amazing job putting this event together.

BIG Thanks to Bridesmaid Rivae for all of these wonderful photos!

I have some extremely generous friends and family, you guys. I still can’t get over how thoughtful and wonderful all of those women are. I am truly, truly blessed.

But it isn’t over! My incredible future MIL and Mr. High Wire’s aunt are planning another shower for me to be held in Mr. High Wire’s home town in a couple of weeks. I can’t wait!

What was your favorite part about your bridal shower? Am I a total scrooge for asking for no games to be played?

I’m leaning towards the no-game thing too. I’d rather mingle!! I’m gonna have to agree with Seal and say that your purples dress is sassy!

No games at my shower either, unless bride bingo counts. (And that wasn’t my idea but it kept everyone semi-entertained during presents.) Showers go by so quickly. I was sad when it ended because I barely had time to eat and greet.

Your mom and aunt did a great job! My favorite part about my bridal shower was the mingling, too. :)
